So after several years, rumors of breakups and the main cast all being dead, "The Gorillaz" have brought about a new album.
Clips, one of the songs as well as several "Idents" can be seen here at Plastic Beach.

For those long time fans of the group, thier music and the rather interesting and defiantly unique group the the band has created, I am curious how this new album has been received by others? What I've heard and seen so far seems quit interesting and brings back a defiantly vibe from some of their earlier work.

I've listened to this album a few times and really enjoyed it. Most of the songs are easy to listen to and enjoyable, although the ones I liked the most were "Welcome to the World of the Plastic Beach," "Rhinestone Eyes," "Superfast Jellyfish," "Broken," and "Pirate Jet."

Some comments. Superfast Jellyfish is a fun little song. It's got some funny lyrics to it and a certain edge of sarcasm, lampooning the fast food industry. All of the songs have a very sea/ocean feel to them, which is an awesome overarching theme that holds the album together. Also, Pirate Jet sounds really similar to older British stuff. I couldn't help but think that it was inspired by Pink Floyd or something. That's probably just me. It's also a really great closing song, even though it's really short.

Speaking of short, a lot of the songs are short. I think most of them are around or under four minutes, so I often found myself wanting to hear a little more out of each song and then having it end before I wanted it to. That doesn't break the album for me, not by a long shot.

Overall, I liked it quite a bit. I'll probably listen to some of the songs when I go home from work.

Superfast Jellyfish, Stylo, Rhinestone Eyes and Empire Ants are pretty much my favs off this album. I like the whole thing a lot and it's definitely earned a place in my music rotation. Some Kind Of Nature also gets major bonus points for having Lou Reed (hell the whole album gets bonus points by virtue of him being on it). I'd definitely recommend it to anyone who likes even one Gorillaz song...
