ST starbase shuttle

I do not know how to call this shuttle and for some reason my brain freezes up when trying to give it a name to the craft type other than it is a type of shuttle but is open topped and used only either on planets or inside huge starbases.

This craft I am designing is from the fanfic that I am currently writing up (In the Beginning: A ST - Bolo Tale).

It is still a WIP as I haven't designed anything underneath the craft nor have I put up consoles and the pilot's seat.

That's pretty cool actually. When is the roof coming?

No roof. Open top. It isn't meant for space travel. The next version will be one with a roof.

With this shuttle(? I do not know of an appropriate name) I had the idea of those flying open topped vehicles on Coruscant.

How are people supposed to get into it?

The dark grey section at the back folds down. Might need to tweak it.

Ah, I assumed the dark gray section was the front.

I think I am confusing you. :) I'm not talking about the dark gray/black translucent windows at the front but the other end in between the red lights of the craft's propulsion system.

A tailgate?

It's a truck. Granted, one designed in Trek, but it's still a truck. Maybe it fills a different role than the Sphinx truck (endoatmospheric van or cargo vehicle versus spaceworthy maintenance work truck). Keep rolling with this.

Durrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr. You've got it. That is what I meant. :)

No, that's the section I'm talking about.

What about giving it a name from some famous ferry service, since it transports people as well as cargo. How about "Penang", or "Le Havre"? (There are obviously others, but these are the 2 that come to mind)

There is also the outdoors expedition angle, maybe "Globetrotter" or "Swift" ?

You'll have to make sure not to give it a name that upstages your spaceships, though :)

Does it have a windshield? Even if you don't go super fast, you still need to keep the bugs from splating in the faces of your passengers.

More like shuttle one or TC-41 (Transportation Craft - 41) :)

There is a windshield. Look for the dark translucent window in the front. :)

I've made some changes and created variants of the shuttles. The two largest are for planetary use while the other three are primarily station crafts.

The first large shuttle is the original that I created but I now made it as a planetary "Mini Van" shuttle. Seating on the side with cargo space in the middle. Exposed areas are enclosed with a force-field.

The second large shuttle is the "Pick-up Truck" variant. It can be enclosed with a force-field like the above but instead I chose to show that it also has a force-field that separates the cargo area from the pilot's seat.

The next two smaller shuttle crafts are station use only (although it could be used for planetary use). Both are the same except the second shuttle has a "nose" which kind of reminds me of one of those '50s wannabe amphibious trucks.

The last one is the "Pick-up Truck" variant except this one is longer.

I am still not finished as the station shuttles do not have headlights and none of the shuttles have some sort of landing gear or "bumpers" to cushion the landing.

I'm also thinking of doing other types of shuttles\hover craft\flying vehicles (what better names are there?) like a sports shuttle and so forth. Designs that will be greatly different since the starbase in my fanfic will house civilians and the like (think of it as a Star Trek version of B5 but a bit larger) and they'll be flying their own craft if they can afford them.

Here is a Ford Illuminator C-Series personal Shuttle. It is a cramped no frills "compact" shuttle with room for only two people or the pilot and cargo.

I finally figured out how to add text. :)

Here's the sleek and fast Toyota Mantis. I went for an angled design instead of curves with this one.

Well, it's certainly pointy. The engines look a little small compared to the rest of the ship. Where are the little vents on the underside of the nose, did you remove them?

I'll elongate them then. :)

The front vent is actually two mini deflector dishes.

EDIT: Here's the elongates nacelles.
