I want to listen to some industrial metal and was wondering if those more familiar with the genre can recommend some good pieces / artists. Briefly, I'm okay with most types of music, though I mainly listen to Verdi, some techno and trance stuff, and some prog rock / orchestral rock stuff. I don't know if this helps or makes me seem schizoid, but I'd appreciate all recommendations, and promise I won't poo-poo them without a fair "hearing".

Well, I'm probably the best person to talk to for this one. Like everything, there's a lot of variation to be had under the moniker "industrial metal" so I'll just post some of the better "accessible" examples, then you can find your way after that.
Rob Zombie is one of the best known Industrial Rock/Metal guys/bands, so is as good a place to start as anywhere.
Feel So Numb is for my money one of his best. I was introduced to him by the remix of Dragula from the Matrix soundtrack, which is played in rock clubs fairly frequently.
Nine Inch Nails are absurdly well known so I won't waste time introducing them. Heresy is a good antireligious song that combines industrial with a good rocky/metally track.
I know everyone wants to pretend to be too cool to like Marilyn Manson, but he's got some fucking cool industrial rock/metal songs, especially the less well known ones like 1996, and Rock is Dead (also on the Matrix soundtrack).
Originating in the late 90s nu-metal era, the band Orgy appeared in the background and achieved some success, though they're a lot less well known than, say, Korn or Slipknot or Limp Bizkit. They're pretty good, though.
One of my favourite bands is Fear Factory, and this is my favourite song by them. They play like machines, stop-start heavy as poo riffage with keyboards and that mostly limited to background ambience around the guitars and drums to give it a cold, cybery feel. Self Bias Resistor. FF playlist - be aware that a lot of them will be heavier than the previous bands.
Ministry are one of the longest running industrial metal bands, and I suspect you'll like this, so I'll embed it. Most of their songs aren't this epic, but they're pretty good.
There's an American band that pretend to be German called Hanzel Und Gretyl, and they're fucking cool as shit, especially the album "Uber Alles". Mach Schnell
Frank Klepacki did the music for the Command and Conquer games. Hell March is pure industrial metal awesomeness.
Rammstein are one of the most well known industrial metal bands and I'd almost forgotten them. B******* (Bückstabü) is the best song from their latest album by my tastes. They have stuff going back years though. Sonne is one of their better known songs.
Try that. This is the song that pops to my head immediately when someone says "Industrial." It's the song And I Go by the band 16 Volt, and I was first introduced to it as the combat music from the very bitchin' and sadly rare PS2 game Primal.

Thanks for all the recommendations .
I've heard the Ministry and Fear Factory songs so far, and I really like them. I'll listen to the 16 Volt (ShadowDragon's suggestion) song as well as Rye's other suggestions and Kenny's link later tonight and tomorrow.
@ Rye: Your "Ziggurat Vertigo" composition is excellent .

Thanks man!
It's in the very gradual process of being redone (I am horrendously lazy), but I've revamped the drums a bit so now it has some subdued, more death metally blasts in it.
