Because it has its charm, post here any cool Jules Vernesque, retro sci-fi and space pulp image from the 60's or older. I'll start with a few.
Classic Martian scum
Super battleship
Supertank
Future war tank
Soviets in space
Cameraman on Saturn moon don't need no space suit

The website
Tales of Future Past is a GREAT place for endless art like this, a few of my favotires on it is the
MEGA LAND BATTLESHIP
The Trouble Bubble!
The comments are also awesome on the site:
All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy, and that's as much true in the future as it is today.
You need to get away from it all. You need to unwind.
You need to take a trip in a giant glass ball that it is careening out of control down a track miles long to crash into God knows what!
Yes, nothing relaxes like unbridled terror.
And one of my personal favorites,
THE SKY TOBOGGAN!

Because that is the color of the backround and they didn't feel like coloring in the sky.

Blue ink costs more. It requires more colors of ink, more printing plates, etc. With the old fashioned print shop I worked at, you could decrease the cost of your purchase of a large printing run if you only used 1 or 2 out of the 3-4 color bases (RGB or CMYK).
Edit: Gah! I'm probably wrong. It looks as though it may have just been the art style of the time.

My guess it has to do with the sun. Maybe the scenes are at sunset?
Also, what is seriously going on with the transistor glasses? What are those supposed to be?
