Looks quite kewl. Not sure what it is though. Frigate? Or capital ship with big guns?

I thought it was a fighter.

I thought it was too at first, then I saw the guns and quickly concluded that if he's following typical sci-fi patterns for ships, it was probably something much bigger.

It's gonna be a large ship, like over 1000m or so. Not huge. Made some bespoke guns and worked on shaping the hull more:

Its a nice start. Keep building in detail and it will get better and better looking. Dont wallpaper it with gun turrets though, that always spoils it completely. What you have right now looks balanced and powerful, should be a real looker when its done.

It's a lovely ship. If I was to comment on anything, it would be that the profile viewed from ahead/behind is very angular and blunt, whereas the profile from other sides is a lot more organic. You may want to smooth the keel, in other words.

Are you planning on doing anything with those 4 chunky wing fences sticking out the front of the wing? As they are they look rather thick & heavy, spoiling the sleeker looks of the rounded wing and front section. If they were thinner, or you're planning on doing some detailing with them then you'd be ok I think. Liking the way its shaping up though, the rear view is very interesting and the engine detailing is nice.

Lose the bottom pylon.

Removed the place-holder main guns for some bespoke ones, and added some panel lines and a reactor thing:

:) Not a lot of middle ground on this forum, is there? If it isn't a tiny fighter its something that dwarfs Star Destroyers.

Venator's were pretty small ships by ISD standards. I like how he gave the primary batteries clear sight lines to either side with plenty of hull width beneath them.

It looks mindlessly tacked on. It draws from the rest of the design, which is pretty good looking.

I think he should keep the pylon. I'm personally not a fan of its exact angle, but it complements the overhang created by the top "tail", and completes the asymmetry nicely, bring the center engines to match with the side engines.

One thing I like about this design is that the combination of the curved body and more blocky details are done in a way that matches quite nicely with each other.

I also like the sense of scale I get from the body. While it has elements of a smaller design, mostly owing to the curved shape, it also feels large and powerful, I want to say bulky, but that doesn't quite capture it.

sleek.

I like the bottom pylon. it gives you something to hold while you're zooming it around the room

Kind of looks like a Star Trek DS9 badguy ship... Jem'dar or whatever.

You are misremembering pretty badly. Those ships looked like beetles or scarabs.

It looks like the Bongo form The Phantom Menace.

If nothing else the lower pylon is a talking point, and that has to be good. I think it looks great, giving a bit of depth and interest instead of having a rather flat design. It makes it look more like something designed never to land, rather than something flat with a pylon or fin on top that would appeal to our normal sensibilities of what a sleek aircraft style object should look like.

Not saying it's identical, but the general lines make me think of these things. Maybe it's bigger badder brother.

I'm taking a break from this ship and while watching The Clone Wars I started a star destroyer. Tell me what you think:

A giant pimple on your face can be a talking point.

As I said, it looks like an after thought that doesn't fit with the overall aesthetic of the rest of the ship.
