Like I mentioned in a recent thread looking for a screen cap of Yoda, there is a Photoshop contest on a board I frequent to make an Episode 3 poster. This is my first entry. (My second entry will use the Yoda pic.)

Very "Revenge of the Jedi"-ish.

Ow. Why'd you do that?

Gives Kelly a band-aid.

Didn't mean to hurt you. :(

Yeah, but's what's wrong with "Revenge of the Jedi"?

Nothing. He probably just wanted an excuse to make physical contact with you. Either that or he thought you were referring to "Return of the Jedi"

As for the poster, it seems a bit empty. It should have been livened up with an orbital bombardment, Stormtroopers, and Jar-Jar's greusome, gory death in the background.

Nathan, Kelly was most likely refering to the early teaser poster for Return of the Jedi that featured an image of Luke and Vader fighting in silhouette against an image of Vader's head that was mostly red and with a starfield-ish pattern.

LucasFilm and 20th Century Fox issued it featured the title Revenge of the Jedi, to help identify bootleg products early on. Kenner, however, did not know that Revenge was a throw away title, and started making figure cardbacks and such, before being informed by LFL.

Thanks SPanky. That's exactly what I meant.

Eight replies, and one of them has a comment about my picture.

I think what you're going for with your poster is a cool idea. I do think you might want to increase the amount of area that DV and the logo take up just a smidge, not a lot though. Right now there seems to be a little too much empty space at the top part of the poster.

Love the "Rise of the Empire" tag. :)

you need to add a few things to the background. Maybe a Star Destroyer, and an abstract of Palpy on the Throne etc. All SW movie posters have been pretty full so far.

You could have like Palpatines mug kind of faded in the background, you know, like he looks in ROTJ, with only the lower half of his face showing, and just barely at that.

They've also had more lens flares than the FF movie. In my opinion, their poster designs, while nice, could be a lot better if they also did minimalist designs, focusing on only ONE character.

A little empty, but I personally think that looks good.

I think you're right. The teaser poster from TPM with Anakin walking and his shadow showing Darth Vader was better than the final movie poster.
