Its 1996, and growing up in Perth Western Australia, then I saw this new Canadian artist being advertised. Alanis Morisette and her music seemed different. Angry .But the music seemed to pick up among my friends, so as a gift my mother purchased for me her album, Jagged Little pill. At that time I didn't even register to me that her song was about drug use, it just sounded cool, nor did I know what a cross eye bear actually was (I guessed wrongly it was a euphemism for pregnancy given the context of the lyrics about Alanis singing about an ex boyfriend. ).

In English class we had to analyse some songs, so chose Alanis Morisette's "Ironic," and I am sure people are still debating whether it really is ironic. I still occasionally listen to Alanis music. Then today on my youtube subscriptions I find out that they made a Broadway musical based on her album Jagged Little pill, where they sing her songs 20 + years later.

Oh man the nostalgia. If this ever comes to Australia, I am going to see it. Just listening to those Alanis songs live song by different artists.

Um,
1) "jagged little pill" isn't drug use, it's life lessons:
I recommend getting your heart trampled on to anyone
I recommend walking around naked in your living room
Swallow it down (what a jagged little pill)
It feels so good (swimming in your stomach)
Wait until the dust settles
You live you learn
You love you learn
You cry you learn
You lose you learn
You bleed you learn
You scream you learn
2) "cross I bear that you gave to me", not "cross eye bear" (though I could easily see the Internet reverse-engineering a meaning to that).
And I'm here to remind you
Of the mess you left when you went away
It's not fair to deny me
Of the cross I bear that you gave to me
You, you, you oughta know
