A good one seems to be ProHosting, at free.prohosting.com

That'll come in handy.

Off-topic: How did that thing with the Outwars guys turn out? Or am I thinking of someone else...?

Then justice has been served, and this thread hijack has run its course...

I don't know how good that one's supposed to be, but it can host message boards, which is one good thing.

Prohosting can do that. They give you a cgi-bin and 50 megs. Pity I have yet to learn Perl, and I refuse to learn PHP or ASP until I do that.

Not sure what they've changed but I've had prohosting before, and I couldn't remote-link images.

Well kids, I just got my 100megs and my new .com name from www.only2dollars.com for the princely sum of $5 a month, although they do a $2 a month package as well for those not interested in scripts and such. Free hosts invariably suck, you might as well get a cheap host and be allowed to link wherever you like without the red X o' Doom.

www.freeyellow.com

50MB
No blocking of off-site linking
500MB/mo bandwith limit.

For a place to dump images, you can't go wrong.

http://www.cbfmail.com/

It's free, and it serves its purpose for posting a few pics (2Megs of web space). You'll never have posting problems, like in some free places. It has also mail and a free sms.

I discovered recently that the files deleted from your web space at the web address you've put it into. They were still there a month after I deleted them.

So, it's a potentially limitless web space provider :?

ROTFLMMFGDQQAO!!!!

What the hell kinda name is that for a Web Host company? LMAO!!!

The ToS seems okay. The usual 'no illegal/malicious/racist/spammer bullshit' rules (which all sites need) plus a blurb about 'you need to make at least a tiny website' to keep it from being a pure file repository. Fair enough. Green light AFAIK.

50 megs of space, 100 meg monthly transfer limit (not too bad unless you want to be famous), no banner ads and it's PHP enabled. It even allows remote image linking. I quite like it.

Only 100 megs/month? :? Hmph. Well, since my hosting service is getting a second server online soon, they'll be allowing free signups again. 2 GBs/months, too. Only for gaming clan website hosting, however! No pic-hosting dump!

The best kind of hosting: Yourself, as long as you have a fast connection.

http://www.freesco.org
FreeSCO is basically a complete distribution of Linux that runs off a floppy disk. You can actually run it on a 386, so it'll let you use any old computer that's lying around. And if you move it to a hard drive (move2hdd under Freesco) and turn on the web server, you can host stuff yourself.

However, you'll want to install an FTP server package (firewalling port 21 to the outside world is a good idea) so that you can host things that don't have 8.3 filenames.

Hella kool then.

Basically it's a good webhost for when you don't plan on getting Slashdotted. :D
