New avatar (sort of)

I finally got my avatar properly masked, using PNG-24. If you're seeing an aliasing image on a gray background, you're obviously using a shitty browser with incomplete PNG support, such as Internet Explorer 6. All other browsers that I've tried (mostly Gecko- and KHTML-based) render it correctly. So use Mozilla or Firebird.

Very nice looking. Best transparency mask I've seen in a while.

I think PNG-24 means 24bit...

I would be using PNG8 rather than JPEG for my avatar, but the noise pattern in the background increases the size by a bit.
And Durandal, you should try making that in SVG

24-bit. 8-bit PNG isn't capable of this, as it only supports 1-bit masking. For a comparison, see this little
demonstration. The left is 24-bit; the right is 8-bit.

Try using different dithing techniques.

Unfortunately, Safari doesn't support SVG yet. Though I would like to make it into a path so I can resize it with impunity eventually.

I've been trying that - I could resize it to 65x65 like on SB and it'd be fine, but I like the larger 100x100 size.

AFAIK, neither does Mozilla officially support it yet.
