Avatar Gallery

For those that don't know, most boards are equipped with a gallery that allows the board owner to upload avatars for public usage, including this one. I decided to start using the gallery so that new and old users that want to use a generic SW image can have one that fits the board limit ( 100x100 pxls & 6144 bytes) without having to wade through mountains of crappy fan art to find a decent image. I've already made a dozen or so avatars to upload, but unfortunately many of the best ones are over the 6144 limit. Due to the amount of bandwidth we are already using it is not possible to increase that limit.
So to those of you with more artistic talent and better editing software: if you would like to submitt images to be put into the board gallery please do so here. Just remember that they have to be SW related ( if you want to make avatars that are related to one of the usergroups here that would be acceptable) and must be under the board limits. What are seriously needed right now are: icons such as the imperial symbol, pictures of both jedi and Sith from the movies, and av's of the spaceships.
Note: the spaceships are what I'm having the most problems with, since most of the pics I'm working with are from the movies. At 100x100 most go over the 6k limit, but any smaller and they get to blurry.
Note: Destickified due to the fact that most people should know about this already, and it's a year old.

What gallery is this? Where is it at?

The option is not active right now so you can't see the gallery, but if it works anything like it does on other boards I've visited the option will be available in your profile, along with the option that allows you to browse your pc for images to use as avatars. You would be able to choose among the list of avatars that have been uploaded.

Have you tried re-saving them with a higher compression level? Some pictures still look pretty good even with higher compression levels.

just drop the color pallette to 128 or so. I've found that works. Take Ghost Riders' new avatar. It's at 128 and 6k. Still looks good.
Oh, and I'll see what I can do sometime.

Images away! Mike should be putting them up sometime soon.
Note: either my photo editing software sucks ass, or I just don't know how to use it properly, more likely the later. I'll post the ones that are over 6k so ya'll can fix them.

Note: The gallery button is in the bottom part of the avatar section in your profiles.........
Must sleep.

Do we have to post the pictures here, or can we send them to you or Mike?

I made a ton of avatars off pictures. All should be under 6k, and are 100x100.

Post them here and I'll copy them onto my computer, then I'll send them to Mike after looking them over. BTW, I got those images fixed, they are now on their way to Mike carried by trusty squirrels.

Can I just send them to you, David? I don't have any webspace to put them up on. Or should I sign up for a tripod account or something?

Feel free to use my current one - I might get Durandal to mask it as well.

BTW, nice avatars Crayz and LotF, please send them to my email. You both get two thumbs up, the only two that count!

BTW, try to put file names that will jnot conflict with other ones. For example, if I make 3 different avatars of clone trooper I might entitle them davidclone1.jpeg, davidclone2.jpeg, and davidclone3.jpeg.
Also it would help if they gave some description. The avatars will list listed in categories, such as emblems, starships, etc. davidclone1.jpeg would tell me that it would fit into the character category, while something titled crayzimpsymbol.jpeg would probably mean it goes into the emblem category.

Shall I zip all the avatars up and stick them on my webserver for convenience's sake?

Well, here we go:

Mike shouldn't have any trouble opening it, as it's a tarballed GZip file.

Thanks Crayz, I appreciate it. I just got done downloading all of LotF's avs.
The only ones I didn't take are the YT-1300 because you are using that one, and the dooku on because I already sent one that looks exactly like that to Mike.

How about some Trek avatars? I would rather like to get a better version of the current logo I am using. My photoshop skills are lacking enough that I had to seriously hurt the thing just to make it fit the restrictions. Some Trek logos and characters would be nice.
