I can't remember if it was Toronto police or our Provincial police that had those Camaro cop cars a few years back, the key word is had since all 4(?) of them got written off in crashes and were never replaced.

That's for sure. The late 80's Arizona Highway Patrol had a bunch of copstangs but they put the lights in the back window so from a distance they looked just like every other white car on the road. Lots of white cars in Arizona.

Geez, on the site Montcalm linked to check out Florida. They have a lot of camaros and a lot of other cool vehicles. I was a little surprised to see the Dodge Stealth for the FHP.

In the 70s they even had the Smokey & the Bandit style Trans Am.

Yup, speeding down here == bad idea usually. We have all kinds of police speedtraps and stuff. THEY ARE WATCHING! Well, on most of the major roads, they are.

The state police around here are getting Z28's now. They're silver and their lights are on the inside, so it's tough to tell if it's a regular Camaro or a cop. I've only seen a couple, usually because somebody's been pulled over by one.

I saw a Lamgergini Pursuit Car in Vegas last year. Try and outrun that!

Some tips for dealing with the local cops: If you come to N'awlins, watch out for these and these. The psychotic, extremely aggressive hotheads who fly 'em have been known to randomly throw people in jail on completely trumped-up charges, especially tourists. Worse: Orleans Parish Prison is also one of the nastier jails I've ever seen, too. Find a place to stay on the West Bank and watch your ass in the Quarter.

Speakin of the Westbank, these guys are much friendlier and easy to deal with. If I ever absolutely had to get busted by the police, I'd pick the JPSO or Gretna cops to nail me. They've seen everything and they know how to do their jobs without trampling all over someone's rights unlike Orleans...

And whatever you do, don't break a speed limit in Plaquemines Parish! The campers^H^H^H^Hcops there have perfected the art of the Speed Trap As Revenue, and they'll aggresively defend a school by chasing down any punks who drive too fast in the school zone as well. The whole parish has only one Main Highway and it stretches the length of the parish, so the cops have had a lot of practice at camping a Speed Trap. Bring a radar/laser detector.

EDIT: And watch out for the ever-present Louisiana State Troopers. They're good campers too, and they tend to have the best stuff on their ships too. Other than that: Harmless if you follow the law.

EDIT2: Notice that the DARE cops have the fastest/most unusual/most-garishly-painted cars? I dunno, but I think it would be quite humiliating to see that Police Camaro hot on your six is the PD's DARE unit...

One of the DARE vehicles is a garbage truck. That must be a little conspicuous sitting in a trap.

Yeah, but it's good stopping power unless your driving a tank.

And how hilarious would it be for an elementary student to go to school, and meet his DARE officer, he's really nice, etc. etc. Then when he gets home he's watching COPS with his parents, and the Cop they're following is the same DARE cop. They get into a car chase, DARE cop catches the criminal, throws him on the ground harshly and starts swearing at the guy and telling him he's gonna "Put a bullet in your fucking leg if you move an inch."

The kid turns to his parents, smiles really big. "That guy goes to my school!"
