A Salute To Those About To Die

Again a rough version, it is full of things I do not like, but it was more of a test of some ideas on how to deal with perspective.

Image

Description: A pilot tries in vain to guide his mortally wounded fighter back to his carrier, only to be hit again by enemy fire and go out of control. Realizing he will strike the bridge of the ship, and having no way to avoid the impact, he does the only thing he can, he salutes the stricken ship in honor of those who are to die on the ship an instant later. Just seconds after impact, the 2700m carrier explodes from reactor control failure as a result of the impact, all 6800 crew go down with the ship.

This is another one I will be redoing.

Heart-stirring.

I suppose it's not the intent, but... That pilot guy looks so cute!

The text you supplied is more stirring than the picture itself, IMO. But it's an unfinished work, so I guess I'll wait and see how it turns out.

That mirrors my feelings about it. Maybe the pilot should wear a helmet to hide his face?

...A bridge hit explodes the ship? What kind of fucked up mind bogglingly stupid design is that?

Well you see skimmer (unintentional pun) the first mate was showing off his C4 collection that day. This exploded knocking a can of hotsauce off the shelf and into the eyes of a chef, who ran around blindly into a weapons storage room where he stepped on a landmine. This mine exploded, shooting his foot 50m and knocking the chief engineer unconscious. A badly made bolt (damn taiwanese) then pops out of the reactor on a completely unrelated basis and an nearby culture ship, angered by the design inefficiency CAMs it.
There you have it. No design flaws. Just really really bad luck.

But the idea for the picture is nice, if drawn well it would be quite good.

Skimmer is right, the bridge crew can horribly die but i dont see why the whole ship would or has to go down.

Depends on location of the bridge in relation to the reactor control systems, and the exact location of the impact. Not necessarily a correctable design problem in some situations.

For those who are harping on the "bridge hit destroys the ship" thing: note the angle of impact, though the design of the carrier is not visible, the fighter goes in at an angle, clipping one part of the bridge and going right into engineering, which is below the bridge by several decks, the main problem is the severing of control systems from the computers, as well as power conduits being severed. Nevermind the damage the ship had already taken in battle.

Oh and thanks for the complements (to those who did such), I will be sure to show you guys the next version.
