And while I'm at it I thought I would throw you one more to critique

I've just started on the textures for this one. It's of the same race as the scout. What would you suggest texture wize?

Whoa, damn nice. Yeah, what Straha said.
You might want to post links to the images instead of just posting it, because people with 56k might have a bit of trouble...
The alien destroyer looks like a pufferfish, but I like the organic look to it.
Just a minor nitpick, but
The Grendal found a solution to this problem by crafting enormous interstellar vessels. These ships had a crew of tens of millions and created enough gravitic force to pull an entire war fleet behind them as they traveled to distance stars.
Doesn't that mean the large ship is basically just towing them around? It's not going to increase efficiency... I liked the industrial look of the human ships.
Anyways, welcome to SDN.

Not to mention when one of the supermods has a 56k dial up, with unshielded phoneline=23 to 40kps connection at best. and is still using a 13" monitor (wonders why he can't get Civ III, MoO III and WC III to run...
you might get extra wrath of Dog.

There should be a thread called "idiot" something in the HOS.
Apparently beowulf told Fuzzy to put his pics into links and Fuzzy got a bit upset at beowulf's wording, gave the board the finger, and apparently left.
A bit sad that he's gone. He's an incredible modeller.

If he showcased his work at SB in the same fashion he'd probably get told off like this, so I don't know why he lost his marbles

IMD it wasn't that he told me I needed to link to the images, it was the profanity and the condecendance. I wouldent mind it from someone I knew, but these are the man's first words to me
. I wasn't flipping off the board, just him, and admittedly that was a bit hot headed, but I was quite honestly more than a little insulted. I appologise. I made the assumption, erroniously, that there wouldent be a problem with my posting images on an art board. This is the norm for the forums I frequent at Eatpoo, Space Battles, Sci-Fi Meshes, etc. If you are posting large images you simply warn people in your thread title. I understand that that is not the case here, and again, I appologise. This still doesn't excuse his attitude.
I will be perfectly willing to come back, and to put up more or my work (stills and animations) as well as some Rhino, Photoshop and Maya tutorials and models, (in the appropriate manner), should I recieve a simple appology as well as the removal of the refering thread in the HOS. Untill then you can see my work at
www.shawnscomputergraphics.com or
http://kier.3dfrontier.com/forums/forum ... ?forumid=5
Thank you, and again, my appologies.

There should not have been an issue. Beowulf was being an idiot. You had all the appropriate warnings about large images. Take the issue up with Mike, since Beowulf is being a fuckhead.

newbies please read before posting note for a reason. As it is if one bit of profainty is going to chase you off then you wouldn't have lasted long anyway.

I will not apologize for doing my job as a moderator, and it's my right to flame people who refuse to read the rules. If you don't have thick enough skin to withstand a single bit of profanity, fine. There's a reason for those rules, and one of them is so as to make it not impossible to read the thread without scrolling the thread left and right 1000 times a page.

You have every right to change the images to links and to inform me of the boards policy, but don't expect me to participate and share my knowledge when I've been insulted, had my post deleted, and had my words put on display for the intention of ridicule under a thread with the heading 'idiot', AS YOUR VERY FIRST ACTION upon my joining your community, even after I appologised and explained myself. The profanity doesn't bother me, it's the attitude.
Even the obviously exhaustive task of sliding a scoll bar back and forth, or waiting a few minutes for a page to load
, doesn't justify that kind of behaviour to someone you have never met. It's like I reached out to shake this board's hand and you spit in my eye and told me that you only shake with the other hand here, and how dare I expect you to lift your right hand for me. It's a stupid analogy but I hope it illustrates my point.
As there will obviously be no appology on your part, and because as an authority figure you have a duty to represent this forum to new members, this will be my last post.
As a final thought, I probably would have read up on the forum's rules before my first post rather than after if their weren't
5 different stickied threads on the subject at the top of the front page. I suggest consoliditating the information.

I didn't delete your post, I wish the supermod who did it would have posted who did it. And that post that got split was you acting like an idiot. See the boards motto as to why it got placed for ridicule. And gee... at the very least you could have read the thread labeled "Forum rules" or "LARGE PICTURES". I have a low tolerance for willful ignorance.

Except we posted a big sign ahead of time telling you which hand to shake and you ignored it. In such a situation you have no cause for complaint. Ignorance isn't a defence when its willful.
And guess what, the second one of those sticked threads contains the relevant information on picture size in its first post. Key information IS quite well consolidated and you didn't even make an attempt to read it then or now.

It's actually the very first thread that talks about the thread size.

No, I don't agree with this. There was no reason to go off the way you did. A gentle reminder and a request to change his post is far more preferable to flaming a newbie on sight.
Being a moderator is not a license to flame without reason.

The relevant thread has been removed. I'd like to see your pics.

To Fuzzy:
This board is a bit....insular? Is that the word?
Anyway, all newbies are held with skepticism, and that can breed hostility easily.
Stick around a little and it'll ease down after a bit.
I personally think Beowulf should've just changed them to links, and posted a reminder at the bottom. Saves effort, time, and drives the point forward without any extra baggage.
