For the upcoming short film.

Not entirely finished yet. The texture still needs alot of work.

[edit]

Okay, after having some web hosting problems I just consolidated the entire WIP progress into one image and reuploaded.

Looks scarier than the Shadow ships in B5

And of course, the obligatory orthographics shots:

You may notice I worked with the spikes on the wings abit since the last image in the WIP series.

One thing I don't think I've achieved yet is a real sense of scale. This ship is massive. 20 Kilometers long! Hopefully I'll be able to create that sense of scale with texturing and camera work.

Looks absurd from a practical point of view, but very cool otherwise...

Once again let us all do a collective jaw-to-floor action in Fuzzy's honor.

Oh yeah, Fuzzy: when you later want to move something around or make it so that it can be easily moved around when needed, do you just do it manually or do you add some kind of joint system to it?

Are you asking what I do personally, or how Maya works in that regard?

Personally.

I parent the obects that will be moving and reposition the center of axis unless I need the objects to deform as a foctor of movement in which case I use a skeleton.

Very nice design. I like your work. This is quite a threatening-looking ship, probably a bitch to land or dock though...I assume some sort of plasma beam comes out of the "mouth"? ;)

Naw, thats where the fighters launch from. The weapons are all the blue glowey bits. They are chrystal formations that yes, fire plasma, but not beams. They kind of 'spit' molten orbs that trail purple-blue fire and mama.

Oooh, spiky. And like Montcalm said, it reminds me of the Shadow ships. Great.
