I'm going to fiddle around with the lighting some more but before that, here's two pics of my latest work.

After making some changes:

GOOD: The sand casts slight shadows on itself.
BAD: The gunship doesn't cast a shadow on the sand.
It could be cause the light's coming from almost all directions and the gunship is narrow compared to something like a roof, so there's no shadow underneath. Might have to work on it some more.
Weemadando: Is an orca from Dune or CnC?

Its rather lacking in flight controls. And please don't inline such huge pictures as they make discussion impossible.

In response, I might add tiny thrusters at the front and end for balance.
Those two big thrusters: each can turn independently, and decrease/increase thrust independently. Additionally, the exhaust is actually two exhausts. Changing power in one or the other helps to maneuver.

That's a really bad and dangerous solution, canards and possibly a tail rotor make far more sense.

G-Police!
That cockpit needs more work, it's too fighter-like, it doesn't allow for downward visibility.

nice work. you might want to chamfer the edges a bit though. nothing in real life is as sharp as the edges on thta machine.

Needs some subdividing on edges, smoothing, and change texture on cockpit. Sand's color is too unrealistic. Can you export to DXF for me to play with it?

What's DXF?
Where's it listed in Maya?

It's a file format- probably under autocad format or something. Preferably lowest version. I don't use Maya, so I don't know.

So basically, smooth the edges, right?
(I'm not gonna work on this model anymore, but I'll keep everything in mind)

So can you give me a DXF version of the file? I don't use Maya, so I don't know what files it imports or exports. Email me at jhnphm @ yahoo.com. Try saving in autocad format, or just export to all of them and zip them up.

From what I've seen, Maya doesn't export DXF. Sorry.

Any other standard format would be ok, since I could probably grab a convertor somewhere.
