[WIP] Supercruiser

This is the Concordia from the Wing Commander Movie - this is the TCS Phoebe, CS-14 (take that, WCII box!). You'd think that since I want this to eventually go into HW2 I would take more pains to keep the poly count down ... and it is, comparitively, but still a bit much for my tastes.

Image one is a generic beauty shot. The circular thingies are where the guns are going to eventually go.
Image two shows off the modest bridge and superstructure detail.
Image three zooms in on the hangar deck, heavily influenced by those on the Hiigaran carrier and battlecruiser from Homeworld 2.
Image four is a close-up on what's supposed to be the torpedo tubes, though they aren't very easy to distinguish right now.

This is probably my favorite of the four or five supercruiser models I've created over the past week. I might add the big cannon thingy on the bow later ... or I might not, seeing how it would mess up the relative cleanness of the mesh (poly) and because it doesn't seem to exist on the official stats anyway. Final armament will probably be two ions cannons, two pulsar turrets, six kinetic burst cannons and six missile launcher tubes.

I'll add textures soon ... can't make any promises on how they'll look :\ I really need to learn to make decent ones - what programs/tutorials are good?

I got a hotlink error, and before i could rectify it I had to close 6 pop-up windows and a little pop-up generator sitting waiting to make more. Fuck that for a game of soldiers, I'll wait till their hosted on a real website.

Try visiting http://security.kolla.de and getting SpybotSD to belay that shit, Axeman! :D Then tell MSIE to go screw itself and get Mozilla. (please)

Anyways, I don't see any real references to the movie Concordia supercruiser on Google except one guy over at crius.net who's also building one in CGI. His version has what appears to be a BFG spinal-mounted at the top of the bow.

I have Spyware Blaster, Spybot SD, Ad-Aware and a firewall running to stop any nasty parasites and spyware, not to mention a pop-up stopper, but I can't be doing with 'free' websites which wont allow others to view the persons content but are content to bombard you with shite adverts when you try. I got a 100meg webspace and domain name for 5 bucks a month, it's not so hard. They even do a 50 meg webspace for 2 bucks a month for crying out loud. [/rant]

Good.

BTW Bob, how about asking Crayz9000 or Dalton to host your pics? That's what I do. BTW Irfanview can make GIFs and PNGs at amazingly small sizes, so C9K or Big D won't get their bandwidth killed just for hosting your stuff :)

That's me, actually :D I got rid of the cannon thing at the moment because it's not actually listed on the official stats (and also ... it might screw with the model :\)

More work. I've added the pseudo-BFG, as well as color-coded the texture areas and made the bow generally less pointy. All that's left is texturing ... and I don't have much experience with that :\ What programs are good for making textures? Or, failing that, where can I steal some good ones?

Oh come on, there are millions of sites without the www. How were we supposed to know?

And not only that, members sites almost certainly don't have the www.

EDIT: I found out the missing www part, yeah.

Never mind, I see you were talking about the first few links he gave us, not the extremely mangled link he posted just above your post. You're supposed to copy-paste those anyway.

I've just informed that my host above has an extremely shitty bandwidth limit. Try http://bobmcdob.homestead.com/files/simkitty/phoebe.jpg instead.

Just who the hell thought that a WWII submarine would be a good shape for a starship?
