Made some major texture changes. Thoughts?

I'll be retexturing the rest of the fleet later tonight.
*EDIT*
This is what it will look like with the appropriate environment lights.

And this is what it USED to look like.

Not a huge change obviously, but hopefully a change for the better...
I'm trying to make it look a bit worn without it looking like a scrap heap.

It's not fair for you to have that much skill while I have none...damn you...
Oh well, it looks very cool.

Very cool indeed...What are the pointy things on the front? Guns? Probes? poky things to ram other ships with?

I've finished retexturing the rest of the fleet except for the runner itself. I rendered a little showcase with each ship. You can download it here->

It looks great of course but if you are looking for advice to improve it you, it looks a little too symmetrical. Maybe add a long pylon coming out of one side or the other to spice it up a little.

While the mesh is symetrical, the texture is not. Quadratic symery is nice because you only have to do 1/4 of the work and then you can duplicate it over :p I'll take it under advisement though...

Here is a render with a bit of fake Global Illmination and a sharpening pass to bring out the details.
It looks nice, but you know what I think about fixed guns facing forward/backward on spaceships, Fuzzy, don't you? As it is, the Dreadnought is good for taking out space stations, perhaps for planetary bombardments, and for one single salvo in a fleet engagement, provided the enemy fleet approaches head-on. Afterwards its a torpedo magnet with 90% of its firepower in a practically non-functional state.
I see it's time for another weapons run down.

The Dreadnought is jack of all trades. Equiped to be effictive in any situation and to return fire in any direction. As you look at the chart remeber that the vessels have the same weapons layout on the opposite side. A fleet may have over a hundred vessels in combinaions of Destroyers, Cruisers, and Crriers, and over 5,000 fighters, but no fleet has more than one dreadnought. Not only does it command the fleet, it repairs and supplies the fleet and is the only vessel other than the scout to have a jump drive, moving the fleet through hyperspace single handedly. (the scout's jump drive can only transport it's self)

I know it's not as pretty, but I think it better fits the mood I want.

Going for the kitbashed '70s look, eh? Nice work. Reminds me of a retro Centauri Primus derivative.

Niiice. Very cool stuff there. I am much looking forward to this movie of yours. Though I do have to say I hate the look of the carrier.
