"Dragons: The Runner" New Stellar Environment.
That lighting is great, it is like they are illuminated by candle and the moon. You should use it in your movie.
That was the plan from the begining. The ships were to be lit by the stars of a binary system, one red, one blue. The scout would then enter the nebular gas searching for the dragon fleet.
BUT
After 8 months working on this project with that environment in mind, I changed my mind last night. It was a very hard decision but I made it for the following reasons-
1) The nebula thing is just way overdone.
2) The red and blue suns make the nebula purple, VERY similar to the mutara nebula in ST:WOK. I don't want to rip anyone off, or appear to be ripping anyone off, or do something that's been done before.
3) The soft red/purple/blue lighting is very soft and serene. I want a harsher, darker lighting for this space battle.
It was a VERY difficult decision to make especially since the binary star system and nebular environment is the only thing I've fully completed thus far. I have been able to reclycle several components, incorperating them into the new scene. After about 3 hours of work I have the initial draft of the new environment complete.

Obviously a big differance.
Now I need to modify the story line, but only a bit. Now the scout will enter the radioactive dust cloud around the core of this dead planet.
The new lighting will be a hard white point light from the upper right, a very subtle white ambient light from the bottom left, some fake Global Illumination, and a warm ruddy orange glow from the dust cloud.
It still needs ALOT of work, but I'm pretty happy with it so far.
Thoughts?
*EDIT*
Progress. Adding space dust.
