New fluid effect environment: Nebular Dust Clouds for Dragon

Post by Fuzzy Modem »

Working on the dust cloud environment for Dragons.

http://www.angelfire.com/dragon/fuzzymo ... udtest.jpg

The cloud is the remains of the planetary core of a destroyed moon. Among the dust there will be floating very large asteroids from time to time, (very large like the size of rhode island) but other than that the dust is very fine.

The environment is not constant and there will be 'clearings' as well as boggy areas where it becomes mush thicker.

The fluid reacts with the ships passing through it, cascading over their hulls, swiling around, and leaving a wake. Other than this interaction the environment is totally static and should look as if it hasn't been disturbed in years.

As a plot point the dust interferes with sensors and makes ships within very hard to find. As a result the area is a perfect place to hide a giant alien fleet.

*EDIT* The image above is unedited/not touched up. The bluriness is an effect of transluceny on one of the fluids

If you can't see the image I've probably exceded my Angelfire bandwitdh and it should be back up soon.
