A few ship sketches

This is a pretty old design (about 1996) that I updated and re-sketched to use in STGOD. I called it the T-wing -- the original incarnation was pretty horrible, but I think it's under control now.

The grille-thing at the back is a radiator for the reactor, not an engine. The engines are to either side, at the rear. It uses a couple of laser cannons similar in design to those of the X-wing, but with a bit more oomph.

And this is a dropship design that I whipped up, which was also inspired by my old sketches. I basically designed it around the requirement to hold 6 MBTs.

Those ball-like things on the sides and top are compound blasters like those employed on the LAATs. Only difference is that the gunner sits inside the ship (hence the bubble window just next to the gun).

So, any comments?

Hey, it's a Plowshare! (Yeah, I know yours came first, but flying toasters are a dime a dozen :) )

I've been working on some ships myself for the ASVS STGOD. They're pretty bad, but anyway...

One I did a few months back, a Stromguarde Malice class Destroyer. I could never get the starboard tail thingie positioned right.

The huntsman of the Zerus Union, never did get that front view finished...

A more simple design, the Zerus Union's Gemini bomber

Some alien fighter that I was planning on introducing at some point.

And one of the Merc fighters from the current ASVS STGOD story arc:

Anyhoo, that's enough random shit from me for one post.

Hmm these designs are just begging for me to see what I can do with 'em on MSPaint...

That's because the flying brick is the most space-efficient design out there ;)

I'm still working on my MSPaint skills. I find that I'm getting better at doing isometrics.

The only two reasons that I hand-sketched the images I posted:

1) I'm too lazy to reboot from Linux (which has been up and running for a couple weeks now) to Windows just so I can use Paint Shop Pro and do some vector work.

2) It's much, much faster to sketch it by hand. I did the above sketches in about 15 minutes each.

Uh... Crayz9000... the T-Wing already exists.

I know, this is merely my own T-wing design.

(I made it way before I even had a computer, much less Internet access.)

Edit: Matter of fact, here's the original design. It's from 1995-1996 or so.
