Always loved Howe's stuff. Got to be him, the others dont quite look right, and the last one is too symmetrical...

The first one gets my vote. It's very pretty.

The first one. The second two are copy-paste jobs; both are the same.
However, the one they used on the FOTR poster is by far my favorite.

Howe's. His argonath have a strong, dynamic pose, acting both as a warning to foes as well as a greeting to friends. Plus, I love how the jagged rocks blend in with the sharp contours of the figures.

Nasmith's argonath look like pansies; they're clutching their weapons to their chests, almost as if they're huddling in fear, and their arms are kept very close to their bodies. Very meek and mild, and not at all suited to the grandeur and strength that such massive designs should have.

The Hildebrandt version would be second-best, though they look too passive. I can almost see the axe-handles replaced by beers and word balloons saying, "Yo, Steve, let's watch the game!"

The Howe version. Very dramatic.
The Hildebrandt's get my vote for least impressive of the bunch.

I like the teaser version of the Argonath that was around before the movies had progressed very far. Although this isn't the best picture of it. I just like it better than the greener looking later version.

Out of the 3 that were posted I like Howe's the best although there are elements of each that I like and dislike.

John Howe's is the best for reasons mentioned, but in addition to that, Nasmith's do not look like the fucking Kings of Gondor and Arnor. They look like regular fucking soldiers.

And in addition to the symmetry, Hildebrandt's makes them look like they were carved out of wood instead of stone.

I also think that the first picture is the best of all three. no other reasons beyound what was already said ... after all this is Lord of the Ring, not Attack of the Clones
