There was a 3" legspan spider in my room the other night, after almost shitting myself, I beat it to death with my old college books...

That thing would make me move house.

Hmm, depending on how aggressive it is, and how nasty its bites are, I probably would have picked the thing up and taken it outside. I know from experience that the bigger spiders, while able to do a quick pounce on occasion, are slower movers in general. That's not the kind of spider that will go skittering around the wall at mach 5.

I've become much less arachnaphobic over time, but if I saw something like that, I'd probably forget about the shoe and take it out with a shotgun. Either that or burn the house down.

Let's see, spiders, not very aggressive, can't fly, not many are that venemous to humans. Not scary.

Wasps, fast, insanely aggressive, nasty nasty stings, can fly. Scary.

Get my grenade launcher, we're taking this stinging bastard out!

That's funny, I just had an incident with a spider. I was getting changed at work and was standing up and something very light brushed my hair. Kinda turned slightly and noticed a spider hanging there from the ceiling. Small little guy, only about an inch across I'd say. Guess he was making a trip to the floor, although I'm certain the more timid people here would have run screaming assuming the spider had planned to eat them from the head down.

Told my two female co-workers and they freaked out, suggesting I had better have killed it. I didn't, he got away as I was looking for paper to remove him outside safely. I have a soft spot for insects I guess, didn't want to kill him if I didn't have to.

I'm not bothered by wasps either. A nest of them I'd stay well back, but a single wasp? Unless you're allergic I see no reason to fear them either.

I don't think it was likely an actual wasp. There are mimic flies that look like wasps that are that big, but they don't have stingers. Did it actually sting anyone?
