I like the avatars most people have here, my issue is, I do not know how
to get my own. How and where did you guys get yours?

Mines I cropped from a screen cap from Melty Blood React. It is Neko-Arc, The Horror.

Some I make from scratch with MSPaint, some I find on the Net.

This particular one was a 'doll' that Verilon made and I extensively modified to better reflect my appearance (the ponytail) and interest (Quake sigil on the shirt)...

usually i just crop and resize images i find on the web til they fit the dimensions for avatars. and, er, shouldn't this be in A&P?

Same here. I grab a picture from online and resize it.

Likewise. Sometimes I change the color, or make the background transparent, but really it's just a copy/paste/crop job.

Google image search. Just copied the small image and made it a bit samller and bingo.

I nicked it off someone else in a chatroom. Must be oooooohhhh four years ago now. This year the blade was changed from green to red and that's the only change.

The current one is a crop and resizing of an image of avril lavigne.

I made a really strange thing with photoshop, however, and I might show it off in my av.

EDIT: As to getting your own avatar, find an image that fits the requirements (100x100 pixels, and.. <6 KB, IIRC). Go to your profile, scroll to the bottom, and either upload the picture from your computer, or (if it is on a website somewhere) enter the image's URL.

-thwaps the BM- Don't listen to him (much). Anywho, mine I usually nick from LiveJournal icon communities. Either that or I make them myself, again resizing and cropping from online pics. Sometimes I play around with them in PSP or Animation Shop.

I went Icon searching. I think they can't be any bigger than 100x100 pixels. So I went looking for "100x100 icons." Gotta love Goggle.

Just for shits and giggles, I decided to do another Freeman avatar... took somebody's artwork, cropped the part I wanted, trimmed out the background, use GIMP's Alien Glow filter to get the glow, and layered it until I was satisfied.

Uh.. most of the time i crop images, either that i drew or from anime. This one was something i drew and a purple pictures. If you're using Internet Explorer, read my sig and you'll see the thing i drew XD

This is one of my several dozen avatars of Konno "Kitsune" Mitsune. I still have yet to achieve my goal of 52 different avatars; one for each week.

I found a pic of Lucca online and cropped and resized it to fit the 100x100 limit. And before my Lucca pics I just took a doodle of myself that I scanned and cropped it to fit the limit.

Anything works, as long as it fits the size constraints.

Copy-paste-resize-crop.

Decapitation of neko musume ---> resizing ---> avatar.

I sometimes do a quick crop job (like me current avatar) but most of the time I will actually pull the face of the character I'm using and put it on a different background to add some flavor.

My avatar was created using Bridgecommande. It is actualy screenshot of a Sovereign in the Alberia system.
