Here's a little quick and dirty something I came up with. I'm still working on it, I just wanted to give you a general idea of where I was coming from:

It's nice...the space on the top and bottom of the left side just looks so big and empty and forlorn...maybe you can stick something there?

Ok, this is the unoptimised version, so it's quite large, I left space for text and maybe a hammer and sickle. If you don't know who the character is, shame on you! I scanned it from my very own punisher book too! Had to do some photoshop jiggery-pokery to get rid of unnecessary comic frames and scanlines.
