JME2's Artwork

In my spare time, when I'm not writing
Star Trek/Star Wars: The Best of Both Worlds, I'm something of an amateaur cartoonist, a personal artistic form I used as a way to escape the tortures of boring classes
. My style is influenced by a number of different artists, both comics and animated. The overall style is very Timm-style-esque (Batman: The Animated Series), with hints of Japanimation, Tim Sale, and Gendy Tartakovsky (Samurai Jack, Clone Wars) sprinkled throughout it. I hope you enjoy.

To begin, I present my rendition of the Batman Rogues:

Batman, you say? I would never have guessed...
Pretty good. Got anymore? Is that a recent one, or an old one?

Recent; just did it tonight.

Have you tried doing a 'scene' or something? Don't stick with faces.

Got another one, this one from some time back.

Trust me, I wasn't really trying with this one; when I really concentrate, they look more professional and less like a four year old drew them.

You've improved, if that's an old one compared to your newest one. That's always a good sign. Even that old one is pretty good. How old are you, JME2?

Early twenties.

I also do these sketches, frame and sign them, and them given them as presents; one of my aunts who's a trekkie got a montage of Kirk, Picard, Sisko, Janeway, and Archer for Christmas where an old friend of mine who just graduated got a Starcraft action pose involving a Zealot, Marine, and Zergling.

That's pretty sweet. I gotta steal that...
I actually used to do the same thing. Like make my mum b'day cards instead of buy those crappy hallmark ones.
I haven't drawn in yonks though.

If you're low on cash and need to get a birthday/other present, then it works like a charm.

Funny; I used to do that to; it really helps to show off your creativity and love for a person in your life.
...
Or am I getting
too sentimental?

No. Sentimental is giving someone crappy poetry.
A good present would be a rendition of The Wasteland, with some of TS Eliot's writing on the back.
Or making a comic or fanfic. Or something.

Good stuff, but the girl is a bit flat-chested. Don't be afraid to draw breasts in their full, majestic glory!

Women are more difficult for me to draw; I just need some more practice.

I'm the reverse, probably because I did more practicing.

While I enjoy doing the pen and ink work. Pencil and sketches to me always look the best. Just something about the randomness that's still there, or maybe it's the more natural look you have. These are pretty kick ass sketches. Too bad they didn't use you or someone with your style for that new Batman cartoon they're bitching about in the Fantasy forum.

Why couldn't you have done the character designs for the new Batman series, instead of those Jackie Chan hacks?

Because I have enemies in Hollywood.
