Not really (though they may be used as such at times). They're big heavy fighting knives with a vicious cutting dynamic. You can literally take someone's head off with one.

That's a Laci Szabo battle sickle, he's known for some pretty "out there" designs which surprisingly work damn well. I've handled his Szabowie and it's a fearsome killing knife. Another custom maker (I think it was Steve Ryan) made a smaller folding version of the sickle, really fun stuff but way out of my price range.
