Executor Diagram/Schematic/Plan views

Post by McC »

Did anyone ever come across proportionally accurate orthorgraphic (i.e. top, side, front, back) views of Executor and/or her kin? As I understand it, the diagrams in the EGVV are inaccurate (and there's no top view either, which is sucky).

Much obliged.

Um, Salm, that's exactly what McC specified that he didn't want: scematics from the EGVV.

I suppose you could always try Saxton's site? Aside from that, I seem to remember this one where there was this guy who tried to make scale diagrams of the SSD, but I'll be damned if I have the URL... wouldn't be surprised if you could find a link in Saxton, though.

Aside-- I seem to remember this rather cool website that had scale pictures of all the ships of sci-fi-- from X-Wing through to ID4 mothership, everything in scale to each other-- biggest objects being half the size of the moon (which was included for comparison)? Something like "So-and-so's Ship Comparison Site"....

I might be able to help you, I have a few pics from a fan made mesh which is pretty damn good. If you give me your e-mail via private message or give me a place to upload them, I'll send them to you. They are quite good.

Edit: I still wish he hadn't caved to the fanboys clamoring for a shorter SSD. At least he linked to Saxton on the page...

He's also using the 45 km figure for the Vorlon Planet Killer, 1+km for the Narn warships, etc.

Have a very nice day.

Yeah, from what I understand, he used to have all the true sizes, but the fools from SW.com e-mailed him incessantly until he went with that idiot Pablo.

Did he have a 900 km DS II up there? Was there an entire page devoted to it alone? :P

No, it was just on the 2000x page, with the moon for comparison. :P

If I may direct you all to the ASVS Fanfic Archive's Multimedia Section, where there are a number of size comparison charts with true sizes.

Chad Wilson's size chart in particular has a nice silhouette view of the Executor, corrected from the EGVV version.

Here's an image to a set of orthographic views, plus a comparison to a bog cube for fun.

A guy called Anthony Tully made some drawings of the Executor in 1984 (according to Tully, Saxton saluted his drawings in 1996). Remember that they are hand-drawn, but they are accurate and have the correct number of engines etc.:

Dorsal, side and ventral view: http://home.flash.net/~atully/ssdapt1.gif

Stern and bow: http://home.flash.net/~atully/ssdapt2.gif

Link to the page: http://home.flash.net/~atully/ExecHist.ht
His page is great, and it also deals with some of the fallacies surrounding the scaling and length of the Executor. He estimates that the ship is in the range of 17,6 to 20,8 kilometers long (11 to 13 times longer than an ISD), about the same figures as dr. Saxton.

Bingo. That's the one I remember from Saxton's site... and yep... awesome stuff. I believe he was working directly from movie visuals, perhaps from photos of the model... wonder how he'd do with the DVDs? they would definitely be kickass, no question about it...
