How is that enhanced? The apache can already see in the dark without making it's self a big ass target. That's what longbow, flir and all it's other sensors are for.

Why is the ship in shadow but you can still see the shadow of a helicopter hovering above the ship. The shadow is at such an angle that the sun would have to be above the ship.

On the picture itself, my main criticism is not on the photoshopping (which is pretty good as far as i can tell) but some of the artifacts that are around, look like JPG compression defects or something, maybe you saved it in too low quality?

Either that or you just stretched the hell out of some parts, lol.

Agent Fisher, you'll have to take that up with Newtek, the makers of Lightwave. The sun in this scene is one light and one light only, and it is pointing down onto the mountain. I would suggest that the fact there is visible shadow is because there is a sun, and the fact that it's dull is because of the non-linear fog and clouds I added to dull things down and make it look like bad weather. The reason the shadows are quite sharply defined, which is more of a problem in this scene, is once again time. I didn't have the time to set up radiosity or spinning lights to soften the shadows and make it look that much more real. Maybe next time.

Slartibartfast, the only photoshopping is the addition of the smoke coming out of the upper areas of Voyager and some of the burn marks on the front, I drew those in because I was pushed for time, but the rest is all created in Lightwave as usual. I saved this at a compression level of 6 in photoshop, which is a decent balance between quality and download size. I ran this through a grain filter anyway to add to the dirty weather, so I saw no harm in compressing it slightly. It's not so long ago that I only had dial-up access only, and it scarred me for life.

since the shadow of the helicopter is in front of the ship the sun must be above and slightly behind the ship.
the parts of the ship that are higher logically cast shadows on the lower parts of the ship.
where´s the problem?
