Sorry if this has been posted before, but what's your favorite Bond theme song?

This is my list (in order of preference):

1. Carly Simon - Nobody Does It Better (The Spy Who Loves Me)

2. Rita Coolidge - All Time High (Octopussy)

3. Moby - James Bond's Theme (Tommorow Never Dies)

4. Madonna - Die Another Day (Die Another Day)

5. (don't remember the artist but surely not Celine Dion) - If You Asked Me To (License To Kill). Note this one was the ending song instead of opening theme.

6. Duran-Duran - A View To A Kill (A View To A Kill)

7. Lulu - The Man With The Golden Gun (The Man With The Golden Gun)

The theme from Goldfinger is by far the best. It represents all that is Bond.

Goldfinger, Nobody Does it Better, and The World is Not Enough

Hmm, misleading title, thought you meant OST and not title music, which I would've mentioned John Barry and David Arnold as having the best scores.

I've always loved "A View To A Kill" because I'm a big Duran Duran fan, but I really love every song depending on mood.

Goldfinger and Live and Let Die.

Quality Bond right there.

I don't much like the title themes, to be honest. Like most lyrics music, they don't do much for me.

Now, OST-wise, I LOVE the 3 David Arnold albums, and virtually everything John Barry made too. Marvin Hamlisch was pretty good too, though he used the main theme a tad too much.

One of the main OSTs I didn't like was The Living Daylights. It annoyed me, and I only liked a few tracks of it, and not that much either. The Dr. No's OST was somewhat... lacking. ESPECIALLY the gun barrel.

The theme from 'From Russia With Love'
The World Is Not Enough by Garbage
Live and Let Die by Paul McCartney

Seconded. While A View to A Kill was a nice diversion from the usual romantic/slow tunes (like Nobody Does It Better or From Russia With Love), the producer decided pushing it too far by having A-Ha doing "yet another new wave" Bond theme. Too bad it was a failed attempt to create an appropriate "Bond-esque" song.

Examples of another diversions are The Man With The Golden Gun, Golden Eye, and of course Die Another Day.

But I have to admit that the most "Bond-styled" theme song ever is The World is Not Enough, with intense orchestrated strings and such. Actually, Milennium by Robbie Willams would make a good Bond song, if the melody (and the lyric) wasn't so light-hearted.

No theme song in Dr. No, as it was the first Bond movie. Only the usual Bond opening theme.

Of course it does, he stole the medly from bond movies :P

(i can't remember which, but he was sued over it and lost)

He did :P , but works well within the song itself. It's kinda ironic only few Bond songs (The World is Not Enough, The Man With The Golden Gun) are using the Bond-esque orchestral strings appropriately.

What? They really sued him for using some sequence of melodies?

Gorldfinger at the top, obviously, it's the defining Bond theme tune. I admit to rather enjoying Goldeneye as well. Live and Let Die is a good song, but doesn't really seem like a Bond tune to me. After that you've got The World is Not Enough, Diamonds Are Forever, and A View To A Kill, which are okay but not great.

Let's not talk about Mr Kiss-Kiss-Bang-Bang or From Russian with Love. Or Moonraker. Or...

Why do the shitty movies always have the best soundtracks?

With very few exceptions, the worst of James Bond has had the best music going for it.

A View to a Kill was probably the best.

Well since it hasn't been specifically brought up yet, which do you guys think is the worst of the themes? I would personally have to say The Man with the Golden Gun. I cringe when I hear that song.

The only thing worse than aweful songs are aweful songs that are catchy.

IMHO it's better than FRWL, though I don't like "old" Bond theme too much.

Alright, in the spirit of bashing bad tunes, what are your most HATED Bond songs, then?

"Mr. Kiss Kiss Bang Ban" from Thunderball is pretty bad but that's because it's Dione Warwick singing and I can't stand her. The music itself is pretty decent but the lyrics suck balls.

I actually kind of like the theme for The Man with the Golden Gun.

It's not up there with the really good themes but it's okay.

Here's a question. How many of these themes to people associate in their heads with the opening title sequences they played over? :)

The theme for You Only Live Twice is okay, but I think I have a thing for Nancy Sinatra's voice.

"Never Say Never" is a pretty weak theme for a Bond movie. The end is okay but the rest is very dated and not in the good way that some of the other tunes are.

My absolute favorite Bond movie theme has got to be Goldfiner. 8)
