Most Emotional Song

What song do you know sparks the most emotional reaction. Right now, all I've got is
"Hold Her Down" by Toad and the Wet Sproket. My mother ouright refuses to let the song be played.

Maybe it's just me, but I couldn't tell what the song was about (oh sure, I suspected...) until I googled the lyrics.
In my mind a song is only shocking if you understand the singer the first time. I can't really think of a song like that, except 9"Nail's "Closer". "I want to fuck you like an animal!" Oh boy, did that go over well down here when it came out...

I am of the personal opinion that your speakers are shit. I mean, the first lines are, quite clearly, "Take her arms and hold her down until she stops moving. Take her arms and hold her down until she stops kicking." What the fuck else could it be about?!

Yes. My laptop isn't the best medium in which to play music.
No offence or anything, but I don't really blame your mum for her reaction.

No, I don't either.

Jimi Hendrix - Castles Made of Sand
Features some of his better singing, and his guitar work never fails to evoke something.

I've always found "Every Breath You Take" by the Police to be really disturbing... I mean, it's all about stalking someone...
"Dust in the Wind" by Kansas get's me every time, but for other reasons.

Ben Fold's Five "She's a Brick and I'm drowning slowly..." is equally disturbing in it's lyrics, but it sounds so sweet... like a love song.

I've got two songs touch me emotionally the most. Note that *only* these two songs have the right combination of both lyrics and melody touching enough to make me cry.
The first is Porcelain by Moby. Very short (as we could always expect from Moby), but I found it very emotionally touching, especially after my break-up with Inge:
Moby - Porcelain
In my dreams I'm dying all the time
As I wake its kaleido scopic mind
I never meant to hurt you
I never meant to lie
So this is goodbye
This is goodbye
Tell the truth you never wanted me
Tell me
In my dreams I'm jealous all the time
As I wake I'm going out of my mind
Going out of my mind
The next is No Ordinary Morning by Chicane. No, I'm not gonna' explain why. It wasn't a pleasant experience either.
Chicane - No Ordinary Morning
If there was nothing that i could say
turned your back and you just walked away
leaves me numb inside i think of you
together is all i ever knew
We moved too fast but i had no sign
i would try to turn the hands of time
i looked to you for a reason why
the love we had passed me by
And as the sun would set you would rise
fall from the sky into paradise
is there no light in your heart for me
you´ve closed your eyes you don´t longer see
There were no lies between me and you
you said nothing of what you knew
but there was still something in your eyes
left me helpless and paralysed
You could give a million reasons
change the world and change the tides
could not give me the secrets
of your heart and of your mind
in the darkness that surrounds me
now there is no peace of mind
your careless words undo me
leave the thought of us behind

Evanescence, "My Immortal"
Incidently, I think she's the hottest I've ever seen here in
the video.

"Kim" by Eminem. Screams in the background go a bit beyond decency when in a song about murdering your wife.

"My Immortal" is high on the list.
Twist in My Sobriety and Don't fear the Reaper, too.

Hmm...emotional reactions you say...
"For my fallen angel" by My Dying Bride almost made me cry upon the first time I heard it.
This linkin park/JZ or however it's spelled makes me look at you with disgust.
Trying to get some Deicide and Vital Remains played among the goffs at college gets a reaction a few seconds in.
That "Mad Wordl" song wasn't overplayed here, so I still quite like that, and empathise with the "suicide and other comforts" style of the song.
Pig Destroyer, like Exhumed and Cannibal Corpse, get an interesting mixed response from me, ambivalence. I'm both repelled and excited by it, I don't think the instruments or vocals are particularly good or enjoyable, and i actually dislike large parts of the song...but still...I feel demented by just having it on, and that's got to count for something.
The music on the GOD channel on satellite gets me riled up though.

Speaking of Eminem,
Haley's Song (or however her name is spelled) is really good (well, except when he goes on about Kim...again). And
Stan is really, really good.

For me the one song that gets me emotional is Gone Away by The Offspring. It's a song that explains how exactly i felt at the time, but i was too hurt to express the emotions i felt.

Radiohead : - Creep
Do i emphasise?
Who the hell doesn't..?

Hm, the original impression I got of the subject was a song that provoked an emotional reaction in others, not necessarily personally.
For that, I'd go with I Don't Like Mondays by the Boomtown Rats ....
If it's a personal reaction, I'm embarassed to admit it is Phil Collins' sappy Against All Odds, just because of the time, place and person it brings up from memory.

Oh god where do I start?
Note that while not all of these are incredibly emotional, they all posess the power to make me cry.
Flogging Molly - 'The Spoken Wheel'
Duran Duran - 'Ordinary World'
The Offspring - 'Have You Ever'
Hoobastank - 'Unaffected'
Amy Ward - 'Little Wing'
Silverchair - 'Ana's Song'
No Doubt - 'Don't Speak'
Those are the key ones. Oh well, I'm a loser

Linkin Park - "My December".

I agree, though I would want to add System of a Down- Chop Suey.
And adding non singing stuff, Motzart requiem.

Hmm. I'd have to nominate the entirety of Roger Waters' The Pros and Cons of Hitchhiking. It's a "You'd have to listen to it" thing.
Either that or Pink Floyd's The Final Cut.
If we're limited to single songs, I'd have to go with Floyd's Dogs.

I second that, actually the entire Mad Season cd. Other emotional songs:
Jason Mraz's 'Sleeping to Dream'
"Just another lullabye to keep myself from crying myself to sleep at night."
Goo Goo Dolls 'Here is Gone'
"I'm not the one who broke you
I'm not the one you should fear
What do you got to move you darling
I thought I lost you somewhere
But you were never really ever there at all"
Alabama's 'In Pictures' (always makes me cry)
"I've got her photograph on the stand by my bed
Two on the mantle and thousands in my head
I can't believe how fast she's growing it ain't supposed to be like this
Everytime I look at her I see how much I've missed
I missed her first steps, her first words
And I love you Daddy is something I seldom heard
Oh it hurts me so to watch my girl grow up in pictures
I sent her money down do my best to do my part
But it can't compare to what I pay with my heart
There's still one unanswered question weighing heavy on my mind
Will she ever understand the reasons why
I missed her first steps, her first words
And I love you Daddy is something I seldom heard
Oh it hurts me so to watch my girl grow up in pictures
It takes all I have to keep the tears inside
What I wouldn't give if I could turn back time
I missed her first steps, her first words
And I love you Daddy is something I seldom heard
Oh it hurts me so to watch my baby grow up in pictures"
