Star Wars renderings (NOT for 56K)

Along the same lines as my versus pics thread, the best of my current collection of Star Wars CG models. (Some of the crappier ones, like ones using XvT and original X-Wing models, are excluded.) I claim no credit for these, as I have all the rendering skills of a retarded cockroach and steal pictures like a bandit. :P

Too big even by this thread's standards.

The one thing that's always bothered me about the X-TIE Ugly: Where the hell are the engines?

*Slaps the lack of engines.*

Okay, 1280 pixels is just a liiiiittle too big.

Just acquired this one a few minutes ago. Props to Jedi_knight on the XWA Upgrade Project forums for this one. (Hey, he asked me to host his Otana models, so I think I can steal a pic of his in return for that service. :P)

Awesome, all of it.
It would be kinda pointless to load it on my own subdomain no? ;)

Wonder about that one: is that actual earth photograph or 3D rendering?

3D rendering. No area on Earth has that many close-set waterways. That continent looks like Venice writ large. I meant that the one directly above that comment is Earth, not the one two pictures above. :P

Duh.

Reality check aside, it was very convincing renders, by the way.

that doesn´t exclude each other. photos can be used as a texture in 3D renderings.

in this case you´d take a photo of the earth (a photo from all sides like we know from maps) and map it onto a sphere.

i love these models of the tie interceptor in the second picture.

I went through and stole the best from the Star Wars Modeling Alliance site. I'll have to find it again and post the link; there's lots more but the others are either of slightly lesser quality or I just didn't get to them; there are around 1500 renders on the site.

My favorites are the second one (with the Ties) and the first with Star Destroyers in the background. :D

Yeah, OnYourTail is my absolute favorite of all time. Sadly, it was too busy to use for my sig pic, so I went with the two X-wings over Yavin.

Some good ones, but I think for the majority they are too sharp and no depth of field. Makes it look plasticy, some just don't have good lighting. Mind you even rendering a still with full GI and all is a CPU killer. The TIE interceptors on the water has some nice match lighting, just the water is way too reflective and plasticy.

Isn't that original production art from ROTJ?

Beautiful, all of it.

I wish I had artistic talent.

The only things I can do that are close are audio editing and stage lighting.
The audio editing is mostly technical stuff, e.g. give me the cuts, and I'll make a decent sounding track. Stage lighting is fun, but it's not really something you can make into a hobby.

Yeah. I just tossed it in there because it was in the same folder and a cool shot regardless. Damn, I wish that had made it into the movie. :(

Yeah, the water's always bugged me, but it's still a great shot. You know, for the longest time no matter how much I looked at the picture that KAN quoted above, it looked like they were over water. :P

Hey, I can see my house from here!
Sorry, couldn't resist it!
The pics are all nice. Not a work of art, but they're all pretty cool. However, is it me or are the TIEs better defined than the Rebel ships?

Ahh, from the days when it seemed like no one on the internet could find a source for what TIE Bombers looked like from behind.

Yeah, I know.

I have rediscovered the source for most of these. Clicky clicky

Clearly the Empire has developed monowire warheads and slashed the S-foils off of a B-Wing group.

And reattached them to the other side of the cockpit? :P

Apparently there's a lot of made-up fighters on there, unless someone's heard of an H-wing somewhere in the EU.

Dammit. Why do they always have to pick on the poor Stardestroyers? Lets see some ugly Mon Cals get blown sky high by the Empire.
