Inspired by me having bought the soundtrack to The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly, I ask the collective brain of SDNet which movie western had the best, most powerful, etc soundtrack. Movie names, track names, and descriptions obviously desired. :D

Not exactly the most powerful, as I've only seen 1 of the major westerns - but the two favourite tracks on the Good, the Bad and the Ugly are the trio and the ecstasy of gold - but the trio wins because of the trumpet solos. Fantastic stuff. Although listening to my sister playing the main theme on her classical guitar also rates pretty highly, bless her.

The Magnificent Seven Bernstein's score helps make the movie.

The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly. I always love the main theme, fast-paced and pretty powerful. Where did you find the soundtrack, BTW?

Shit! I completely misread the thread title to mean "Western (as in Western Civilization/Hollywood) movies soundtracks" ...

Yep, have to vote with Dollars over GB&U, but they're both tremendous. Bravo Ennio Morricone!

I'm quite fond of the soundtrack from Way of the Gun.

Surprised no one said Claudia's Theme from Unforgiven. The lonely guitar playing as Munny looks over his wife's grave and the text scrolls.
