Darth Vader Costume inquiry...

Post by Robert Walper »

A quick question for those who might know. Are there costumes, literally like the above quality, you can actually purchase for personal use? I was in a discussion with a co-worker about it, and he says he's sure you can find them. Quick Googling on my part hasn't shown me any ones you can purchase that look "realistic", for lack of a better description.

Feedback or suggestions appreciated. (I highly doubt I'm actually going to get one, but I can't help but want to check it out :P )

Dude, that's not cool. the guy asks for help on a costume and you instantly label him nerd. Isn't this forum based around arguing the specifics of certain imaginary craft?

Well maybe he can use the Vader suit to meet a hottie dressed as Zam Wessel?

For over a thousand dollars? Just make it yourself.

But really, Lucas should invest in creating affordable and half decent-looking SW costumes. You'd think he would after all these years. Oh well.

Insulting Walper is a time-honoured tradition here. It is made all the more ironic when you consider the... difficulties he has had in the aforementioned regard. :P

An option may be purchasing a kit (generally-- helmet, shoulder plates, chest box, a few bells and whistles, and pads to put on a pair of boots to simulate the Vader footwear), and then adding to it a bit, perhaps painting it up a little, to make it more 'authenic'. Full costumes are *much* rarer.
It's a strange world. Let's keep it that way.

Oh, I meet plenty of women already. The problem is meeting girls that don't don't say "You're such a good friend" and flee like I'm the plague if I hint at a more serious interest. ;)

Naturally, I expected an really good quality suit to be expensive. I highly doubt I'd get one anyhow, but it certainly doesn't hurt to look.

YT is allowed some leeway with me. After all, the number of secrets he's confessed to me in his crying states over MSN could ruin him if I so desired.

Er...not the goal in mind if I actually bought one. :P It would be mostly for Halloween, assuming I even got one.

I am a nerd. Denying it would be a sign of mental instability. I must embrace my nature. 8)

Besides, those who've seen me would probably support the assertion that few people call me "nerd" to my face. :D

I find it funny people think I'd seriously spend a grand on a suit that would have, at best, extremely rare usage. Perhaps in the future I'd buy one for the novelty and amusement factor, but right now, I'm just curious to see what's out there and of the quality of it.

Hence, my reason for inquiring here, as I figured there are a few of you who might have a better idea where to view/inquire about them. :)

Why not trying eBay? The quality varies, but I guess if you're lucky enough you can find some real good one. You just need patience, and constant monitoring.

Well, I'm not really willing to spend that kind of time on this. Like I've said repeatedly, this is just a minor curiousity, not a serious pursuit. Although admittedly that would probably be quite a bit cheaper.

Yeah, it's expensive, but the image and quality of the costume looks pretty damn good. If I had a grand to just throw away, I'd get it.

Thanks for the link Isolder. 8)

It looks like it's essentially a full, exact reproduction of the ROTS version of the costume. So yeah, it'll be expensive ;)
