Clonetroopers storm Celebration III
Clicky. I dunno, clonetroopers on that escalator (which I know well; I've spent way too much time in that convention center for a guy who never goes to conventions ) struck me as funny for some reason.
It's Rogue, not Rouge!

Because you're a sinner.Stravo wrote:Those are some sweet costumes. Why am I stuck with the brontosauraus Jedi lightsaber deuling with $6 Toys R Us sabers when I see Star Wars?
Anydangway, I notice the 4th trooper from the bottom is the only one with Ep III armor. Lucky ponce. I wouldn't mind doing that, but my only experience in dressing up as a Stormtrooper and staging an assault was in SW:G, and the kiddies there never reacted to light rolepay very well.

Heh, looks like they're taking over the building.

You know, people have had 30 years to refine the making of Orginal StormTrooper costumes... It;s no wonder there arn't more CT style suits... but DAMN they are way more stylish!

Oh, I doubt they were seriously hundred-percent CG; they undoubtedly made a few suits, quick and cheap, by adapting a bunch of stormtrooper armour from the previous movies, for maquettes and the like, as well as promotional purposes such as Planet Hollywood.Slartibartfast wrote:Damn, future generations will not be able to go to places like Planet Hollywood or whatever to see this kind of stuff.
And who knows... maybe these 'future generations' will be using holograms instead...
It's a strange world. Let's keep it that way.

I still can't get over the fact that for the modern movies there are NO real modle suits of stormtrooper armour... I mean, you think they would make SOME for showpieces and what not!

I'm pretty sure for AotC they sculpted one small maquette and nothing else. Lucasfilm never built a full suit during production.Crossroads Inc. wrote:I still can't get over the fact that for the modern movies there are NO real modle suits of stormtrooper armour... Also, The armor pieces for Clonetroopers are very different in their basic design and shape then Stormtroopers; it's a lot more complicated and form-fitting, with things like kneepads and multiple arm peices. In other words the overall design is reminiscent of unsimplified Stormtroopers, but when you get down to it it's much more than a simple modification.

I've grown to like the CGI Clonetroopers- they look better. The Stormtrooper costumes are aesthetically pleasing when worn correctly, but there's more than one incident in the films where shit goes wrong with the costumes. Clonetrooper outfits are good because they eliminate that problem.
Things I'm thinking about in paticular:
- Stormtrooper in Luke's "No!" scene in the hangar in ANH, his right shoulder pauldron is loose
- Stormtrooper in the Tantive IV scene, you can see the seam at the back of his boots
- Stormtrooper on Bespin when they get held up by the Bespin "cops"- the abdomen piece of his armor, which is supposed to go under the chest, has come out on top. Looks silly.
- The cracked shoulder pauldron in RotJ (not possible with CGI for obvious reasons)
- The twisted helmet on one of the Stormtroopers who drops a just-tortured Han Solo in his cell (Han's arm twists his helmet)
A handful of the total, but it's still annoying as heck. There's probably some I missed too.
