Got a bit bored, so I made this. It features all the avatars I've used on this board, and myself. From the left you'll see:
Vlad Tepes
Vlad Tepes in x-mas outfit (blurred out for coolness)
Link in x-mas outfit (I really liked how this one turned out which is why I used it for so long after christmas - till today actually. Blurred out for coolness)
Illyria (glowing because she's my current avatar, and for increased coolness. Not that she needed a coolness increase...)
Me (I'm not stoned! Honest!)

Then there's the text, "Dooey Jo", to which I added some fancy glow thing. And the other text. At first I intended to have a quote or something, but I just wrote some weird slogan instead, just to be different. Makes me laugh in any case, but then, weird things tend to make me laugh... I considered other stuff, including (but not limited to) "Because colours are pretty", "You only get one", "Insanity gone wrong", "Dark edge of the metamorphosis".

As a background I did some techy green stuff.


So, how much do you hate it?

Who in Valen's name is Illyria?

Illyria is a character from Angel (the spinoff from Buffy the Vampire Slayer). She was introduced in the last season, she is a demon that has possessed the body of the character Fred (Winifred Burkel).

At least you can make a banner, I have ask somebody else to do for me.

Thanks guys. I admit my sig banners have improved a lot since I discovered the wonders of the .png file. Before then, they always got screwed up from the .jpg transfer.
Anyway, I was wondering how one makes that light effect with the letters?

At the OP: The sig is quite nice, well composited.

Oh yes, I know. It's a reference (that only I get) to the Monkey Island games where they mention demonic heckfire (or do they call it "the demonic fires of Heck"?). I think it's funny because of its political correctness, and, as we all know, PC can be really absurd at times.

You mean the purple glowy thing? It's a pretty simple effect if you have Photoshop. You just write your text, apply the Distort->Polar Coordinates filter (with Polar to Rectangular set). Then rotate the layer 90 degrees clockwise (or counter-clockwise for a zooming kind of effect) and apply the Stylize->Wind filter (with the Wind and From the Right options set). Rotate the layer back and apply Polar Coordinates again (this time with Rectangular to Polar). Et voila! You have a cool effect. Now play with the colors and find something you like!
You can save a duplicate of the original text layer and set its blending mode to Screen or Linear Dodge to make the text more readable, if necessary.

You should probably merge your text layer with a filled layer before applying the filters, otherwise the Polar Coordinates filter can produce weird results.

Yes, as Avalon said, she's a character from the last season of Angel. She took over the body, and some of the memories, of Winifred Burkle, in one of the more heartbreaking episodes of the show. She used to be this über "god to a god", super-demon who could alter time in pretty much any way she pleased, as well as being nigh indestructible. But Wesley stripped her of most of her powers (guess a too über creature, more or less on their side makes it too easy for them). So now she's confined to playing Crash Bandicoot, demolishing cars and just being generally awesome. And she's blue

At least my Jerry is clear enough

And "Dooey" is right on Tepes's face .... it's like he's wearing some kind of huge glasses. Not very flattering for a Voivode of his fame. As a Romanian I have to right to speak on HIS behalf

Now, now. I did place him first in the line, and the non-x-mas version isn't blurred at all. Only darkened a bit. However, that huge glasses thing gave me a funny mental image; the Elton John version of Vlad Tepes!!
