*shrugs*

I thought it would be cool if someone could illustrate this dinosaurian alien critter I've confabulated. Think of it as a contest, where the winners have my eternal admiration and gratitude and their artwork posted in a universe-building forum, to be seen and admired and regaled by other folk.

Any takers? :)

Interesting, I will take a crack at this. Do you have a specific scene / pose in mind or do we have full artistic freedom?

As long as it looks cool and whatnot. Just be sure to follow the descriptions.

Regarding the description, how close to a Trex are you looking for? From the description I am envisioning a creature that uses stealth and speed for ambushing and thus much of the design should incorporate that. From their desire to become attached to one mate, I see the feathers being very bright and colorful for attracting mates yet possibly easy to fold flat against the body while hunting. Do the chameleon scales allow for a true blending into the background? Am I reading this right?

It's big and heavy duty, not really fast. But still capable of sneaking around (in forests).

The chameleon scales are as adaptive as a chameleon's. And the feathers, I guess so - although I don't think they should be too bright, since that'd be an impediment to the stealth thing.
