Well, from the really blurry photos (You don't have a macro-lense or setting, do you?) I'd say that it's some sort of spider.

Don't worry, it probably isn't that poisonous.

Unfortunately it's due to the crappy digital camera I took it with.

I think it looked more like the kind that would lay it's eggs in your brain as you sleep. :P

This thing was much too big to be a cricket IMHO, ~slightly longer than your thumb up to the second joint and a little bit wider.

Not a spider, it has only 6 legs. And yes, it looks like an african cave spider. Saw 'em on Fear Factor, once. and that makes me an amateur Entomologist.

Therefore God exists.

Did I say cave spider? Cave Cricket, I meant.

Yeah, I was about to ask "Where was this taken", it looks like a cave arthropod of some kind.

The pictures were taken over Father's Day at my grandparent's house in New Jersey. I found it in the fire pit out back that's been covered for several years with a piece of plywood.

I think the front legs are a little big and the rear legs are a little small for a cricket, but it might be one.

Hard to tell with the blurry pictures. At first I thought it was a jerusalem cricket , but the head doesn't look right.

It's obvious what it is: an alien invasion.

I for one welcome our new insectoid overlords...

If it was an Australian spider you could say that it is that poisonous :P

Did it taste like chicken?

Its very blurry. If it came out the water, it might be a waterscorpion

It might be some sort of locust. It definately has the locust/cricket look.

If I had to take a guess, I'd say a Weta... But, you aren't in New Zealand, are you?

So thats a "no" on the Weta theory?

Definately an insect and not an arachnid. In other words, its not a spider.

I would say something similar to a Jerusalem Cricket.

Yes. :P

Although they do look rather similar.
