As for what operation Freedom Fry is, I have no idea. I suspect it is somehow linked to the notion of renaming "French Fries" into "Freedom Fries"...

'Freedom fries' was, originally, one of those really stupid patriotic jingoisms that came about after 9/11. The Freedom Fry forum, as far as I understand it, has been taking pictures about the Iraq/middle east war and everything related to it, and adding humourous captions.

The ship has crescent moons on its sails, the symbol of the Islamic religion, if I'm not mistaken. Seeing as how the middle east is pretty much the seat of this religion, and the conflict is centered around there, the pic fits. It's a very tenuous connection, but the picture itself is rife with humourous potential, so only a slight connection is needed.

Oh, and no, Chmee isn't taking pictures of the war (I'm assuming), she's taking other people's photographs and adding new captions to them.

Well, it's a subtle humour. The dissection of the joke: The ship has crescent moons on the sails, thus I label it as moslem. It is on the water, so I labeled that Lake Michigan. The people in the foreground are shooting into the air. Thus, I took a little artistic license, and poked a little fun at my own home state, by implying that Wisconsin is full of hunting-obsessed drunkards who could be distracted from defending their homes by the presence of game-animals to shoot.

Chmee is an obscure male K'zin. I assume its not a female.

Bleh, totally right. Chmee used to have a female in his avatar. Combine that with the fact that, to me at least, 'Chmee' is a feminine sounding name, and I tend to get his gender mixed up.

Not everyone who browses this forum is an expert in all things sci-fi. I have enough of a passing knowledge to not get involved in things that are over my head, and generally not embarrass myself in the things I do get involved in.
