I've had this idea for a couple years, and finally decided to do it:

http://www.mrpoesmorgue.com/usvsd/usvsd.html

Its nothing spectacular, and I did check it on IE and Mozilla. Let me know if it doesn't work for anyone.

I like it. Fits with the ideas and presentations on your site.

Nice, but angle of TL bolts for the Sovvie and the Galaxy is wrong if they would come from the SD.

Thanks. I was going to add sound effects too, but thought that might be a bit much!

Why? There's guns all over that ship.

cause they look they're not coming from the ship but from empty space.

How so, given it's the only thing there?

The angle he chose for the Galaxy is nearly the same as he chose for the Constitution. The Sovvie is only coming from a closer angle. The weirdest angle is the Negh'var shot. But given the way the guns are assembled on an ISD, they can and do come from those angles.

The only one I'd say has a weird angle is the Neg'var. It looks like the TL's being shot from the engines.

what I'm saying is that the bolt look like they're coming from some poin near the middle of the screen (aka just empty space(aka from none of the ships) instead of the SD.

EDIT:I took new look at it and even the shot to the connie seem to come from the middle instead of the SD.

And like I said....how so, given it's the only thing there?

If Poe had a TIE fighter or something between the two points I could see the point and even the confusion, no matter how humorous, but there is only one thing there, and it's firing green bolts of death.

Unless you can point out something that would give the indication that there is something else, this is literally nitpicking because he didn't angle the bolts at some perfect 73 degree angle from the vessel.

Fucking hell, they're just graphical elements. Jeez.

Also, Wayne, I'd add bits of javascript to preload the rollover images.

Great. :D

Wonder if DarkStar's started ranting about how this exposes your obvious subjective bias yet. :lol:

well I didn't get that were suppose to be TL bolt until I saw the Romulan and Klingon ships getting hit (I thought that the SD was another link.

Do you mean width/height notations?

Wow... one of the spacer.gif elements isn't loading for you? That's really strange.

I'm getting the same thing, but if i resize my window and make it smaller the images move into place.

For example on my regular resolution of 1600x1200 i get this:

While when I resize it i get:

So maybe your missing a break or something somewhere? I really don't know that much HTML :oops:

Oh, and I am on firefox 1.6 to, but it does the same thing in IE.

What resolution are you using? I'm 1280x1024 and it looks like the picture for me.

No, there's a way in javascript to preload images that show up during rollover. This is what you do:

Code: Select all

var x = new Image();
x.src = "y.jpg"
Do that for each image and make sure you match the image names to the file names. This'll speed things up a bit when the page is first loaded and the viewer rolls over the picture.

Now, the problem with your index is that if someone's screen is big enough, the spacer image will still be on the first line. To fix it, simply put a <BR> tag after the first three images.

Thanks, Rob! It seems to be working.

Well, I tried that several ways, but the images kept going off center or completely out of whack. Can you elaborate? BTW, I'm at 1024x768 resolution. This is no longer standard?
