As for adding sound effects, I might make a Flash version of this... I could probably make the Death Star's animation look a little less jerky while I'm at it.

Photoshop (for layers, so I can arrange objects easily and compare frames and such), FCE Ultra (for taking SMB3 screenshots), Google images (for the Death Star, exhaust port, and starfield pics), and Animagic Gif (a somewhat out-of-date animated GIF program, but I like it because it's easy to use and get the results I want).
