Sci-fi Magic the Gathering Cards

Well inspired by Lord Zentei’s Magical Politicians thread I decided it might be fun to turn a lot of the ships in star wars (and other popular sci-fi) in magic the gathering cards. Would any people hear like to work on this?

My original idea was to do some thing akin to a set and so we would need to plan out cards (or at least basic ideas) a bit more than in Magical Politicians so the cards work together. So I wanted to see who was interested before I (or anyone) start making cards. -But that will probably take too much origination so just post cards/card idea and maybe we can make a set out of some of them as we are doing that.

Some basic preliminary ideas.

The empire should have lots of land destroy (DBZ, Deathstar, suncrusher, world devastator etc).

We would have to ignore the real power of thing when taking ships from different universes (Other wise if we gave the enterprise a defence of 1 an ISD would need a defence of around 21141649048). Perhaps power in the relative universe could be used.

I am not sure weather it should be kept to spaceships or ground craft and troops should be involved as well.

An example of what I mean.
The imagines in the cards in this thread are the property of other people unless otherwise noted.

EDIT: UPDATED CARD.

Maybe it should read instead:
Imperial Star Destroyer wrote: If Imperial Star Destroyer attacks and is not blocked, target land, and do not untap during controls next turn.
I'm not sure I got it right, since I don't know how to play Magic, but I do know English. :)

Orbital Nightcloak -3-
Enchant land.
Enchanted land can not tap or use activated abilities.

Galaxy gun -4-
Artefact.
Tap : destroy target land.

I could not find any pictures for these. So I will post them as ideas. If some one could find pics (or even draw them) it would be great.

Even though these are not ment to be funny hear is Marvin.

I utterly refuse to use that new travesty of him (well I hated the look in the new film).

The Shrike
4 white, 6 colorless

Flying, First Strike, Trample

1 white: regenerate

Attacking does not tap The Shrike. Whenever The Shrike leaves play from the table, return it to your hand. If Fehdman Kassad is sacrificed from play, remove The Shrike from the game.

20/20

There is no one The Shrike fears.

What’s the shrike? I have never heard of it.

Shouldn't your ships have Flying? :P

Also "Stops target attacking creature" should probably read "target attacking creature is blocked" though that is pretty outrageous. Perhaps this would work better: "any creature blocking target attacking creature gains First Strike till end of tun".

Photoimpact(random photo editor) it’s the only way to get the new card backs. I even added my own set symbol. It’s this thing.
Linky the link

My full card creation process is...

What I do is go to www.anycraze.com save the correct card type on to the hard drive (e.g. right colour, sorcery, creature etc) then remove the picture and most of the text. I have created a library of all the card “base” I need so I only do this step occasionally.

I then load up the right “base” using adobe Photoshop elements copy in my set symbol. Merge all the lairs. Copy the image in the Photoimpact were I add picture, text (using HTML text because it is a lot clearer) and anything else it need. Upload to image shake and post.

Well since I was not intending to do any non ships (since there could be no meaningful comparison between a storm trooper and an ISD) I was keeping flying for ships that have strange ways of getting to there targets.

As to the reword the first strike is probably the way to go.

Wow...

Look here. Any image that looks like a humanoid cutlery drawer would be The Shrike.

Could you give me some details about him? It’s just that i don’t like creating a card blind. Also who is Fehdman Kassad.

'e's pretty hard to quantify, but if you crossed (The Flash)^2 with an unobtanium cuissenart, you'd have something very much like The Shrike.

(from Dan Simmon's excellent Hyperion novels)

There should also be Haste in that one too and some modifier which allows the Shrike to attack multipule targets per attack round. As well as some repeatable abilty to remove something from the Game.

The Shrike is something the Culture couldnt handle.

linky
"It was there. Just a moment ago, the shining metallic humanoid form made of razors and hooks and needles was over there. Now it’s here, its arms around you, slowly, almost tenderly embracing you. At first you hardly feel the spikes sliding into your flesh, but then you are lifted and carried. A distant wail of agony becomes clearer as the Tree comes into view through a visible fog of suffering. You are being taken to it, to be impaled on one of its many steel thorns, writhing in unceasing agony as the Tree moves outside of time."

...

The Shrike (the mysterious metal reaper around which the story evolves) is a truly marvelous monster. A classic terror, capable of generating a fear that is greater than the fear of death, perhaps even the more terrifying because it’s seemingly technological origins remove it from the realm of the supernatural (in which one might have hope of supernatural aid). The lucky victims of the Shrike live only long enough to suddenly realize they have just been torn apart by razor sharp blades, without so much as the blink of an eye between life and death. The unlucky ones are taken to the Tree. The Shrike’s Tree of Pain is a poignantly gruesome, if somewhat overly symbolic image. An enormous shining metal thorn tree reaching into the sky, it exists outside of time and upon it’s giant barbs are impaled the undying bodies of The Shrike’s victims, writhing in a chorus of agony as they ever futilely attempt to pull themselves off the frictionless spikes. Since the Tree exists outside of time, as does the Shrike itself, this allows for the truly horrifying possibility of seeing ones self on the Tree, knowing you are fated to be impaled there, knowing in a way you already are.

The tree is a dominant image in these books, which is interesting given the technological future they encompass. I was hooked on Hyperion from the very beginning, with the depiction of the Templars’ Tree Ship, the Yggdrasill an actual tree of immense dimensions, which travels through space in some kind of space-bending field. The image of people spiraling up the exterior of a giant tree in space, the stars turning around them and sparkling through the foliage, the base of the tree always "down" because of a false gravity, held me mesmerized.
