Airsoft Guns + Friends = Photo Op
I call it... Tinkerbell's Airsoft Adventure..
Clickable Thumbnails..
Almost all of them are gas guns. A few are spring. One electric. Just so we don't assume I'm stupid we purged the gas / took out the batteries / shot all the rounds out of them before we started taking pictures.
That's what friends are for.
Le GASP!

What you don't see is the gun to his head..
I made fun of his penis..
Oh, the innuendo!
He didn't tell us he liked it.

Shit, some of those pictures make me uneasy. I know they're just gas guns, but I was always taught that a gun was simply never pointed at someone, even if it was empty...

That's right. A real gun is never to be pointed at someone.Spanky The Dolphin wrote:Shit, some of those pictures make me uneasy. I know they're just gas guns, but I was always taught that a gun was simply never pointed at someone, even if it was empty...
Never is such a strong word though...but I digress.

We didn't have squirt-gun fights when I was a kid, really. I think in about twenty years we've only owned less than a handfull of waterguns. That and while both are toys, waterguns are somewhat different than Airsofts.Uraniun235 wrote:Cool pictures, although (and I don't intend any offense) the guns look kinda cheap.
Spanky: You never did well in squirt-gun fights, did you?
I do agree that those guns do look like toyish junk, though. What Tink should do is try importing some of those nice realistic Japanese models: none of that orange cap bullshit.

Very bad. I'm guessing you didn't inspect each piece prior to its use in these photos. So you don't know which one can still be loaded. Rule #1 is to always assume that a firearm is loaded and in-battery no matter what, meaning that you always, always, always follow Rule #2 (finger outside of trigger guard unless you are about to shoot) and Rule #3 (safe muzzle direction).
Pics 1/4/5/6/7: NO. Unsafe muzzle direction AND fingers in trigger guards. Even with plastic pellets, those placements can be quite lethal (carotid and jugular, mouth and temporal artery, frontal lobe, crotch and heart respectively).
Pic 3: YES. Finger outside of trigger guard. Good girl.

No, I was referring to this:
Also, people tend to intentionally shoot at each other with Airsoft guns, so I'm not sure how some picture-posing is going to be a whole lot different.Even with plastic pellets, those placements can be quite lethal (carotid and jugular, mouth and temporal artery, frontal lobe, crotch and heart respectively).
Its very unlikely, but at that very short range, if it misses the ribs it can have enough velocity to puncture the heart. I have heard of cases where a pellet just missed the sternum and went into the heart. Although admittedly this is one of the least risky places to be shot with an Airsoft pellet, certainly nothing compared to, say, the suprasternal notch.Uraniun235 wrote:Are you seriously saying a plastic pellet is going to penetrate the ribcage and wound the heart?
As for shooting each other with Airsoft firearms, its best advised to be wearing thick clothing and helmets. But lets not get into that. You've seen my safety rant on POSING for these pictures, you don't want to see the one I have for shooting your friends.
But in all seriousness, the posing is okay if you make absolutely sure that the piece is cleared before you use it in the picture, but even then its not good to get into the habit of placing your finger inside the trigger guard for no reason.

Dude...
We made sure all of them were fine. We did that after we played, and we were protected while we were playing. I'm fairly certain I still have my safety glasses on in a few of the shots. Chill.

Some of us here are just a little concerned, that's all.We made sure all of them were fine. We did that after we played, and we were protected while we were playing. I'm fairly certain I still have my safety glasses on in a few of the shots. Chill.
Just make sure that cops aren't nearby when you do something like that again. I remember when I was ~10-11 years old, me and some of my friends were playing cops and robbers at our elementary school. Some of the plastic guns were were shooting ( they used rubber pellets) apparently looked real enough for some neighbors to call the cops.

All the Scottish Airsoft action photos you can handle. I play on a regular basis and took some snaps from one of our site days. My own kit is a G36C, Ingrams M11 and a Glock 17C for backup.

Yeah, I read that up top. Sorry, I'm just a real stickler for this stuff. Since there's always a chance you missed a few pellets it should be reflex to clear the piece everytime you pick it up (which you may have done), and to keep fingers outside of trigger guards.Tinkerbell wrote:Dude...

I appologize for sounded overbearing, but it really ruffles my feathers when I see fingers in trigger guards like that, and pointing it out is a bit of a knee-jerk reaction for me.
EDIT: Grammar.

As always it depends on the manufacturer. The 'Heavy Metal' guns never have any problem and they are far more realistic in appearance. I have their Sig P220 model and set side by side with the real one the only visible differance is the orange barral tip. They even weigh the same unloaded. Loaded you can tell the differance by weight.Uraniun235 wrote:I've heard that Customs has been a total pain in the ass for Airsoft retailers. The one in town was bitching about it when I went to pick up some more green gas; I guess they confiscated over a thousand dollars worth of merchandise.
Edit: Granted they have limited retailers, usually you have to order the damn thing from the factory in korea.

Yeah but if I recall, the Japanese manufacturers ignore all that fun-sucking orange tip crap.Setesh wrote:As always it depends on the manufacturer.
