Dawn of War combat photos!(56k should probably be afraid)

Post by Tasoth »

So yeah, figured this place is the better one to put it. Lets get a thread going of scenes from the battlefront. I'll start it.

Image

My fascination with the detail of the models in game. So pretty....

Image

The guard showing off their discipline.

Image

The real meaning behind 'Green Tide'.

Image

Flipping out and going ninja.

Image

Orks, Eldar, Guard, the Avatar and the Colonel running in the background.

Image

The Futility of Chaos.

Image

Even the Orks are in awe of the mighty Baneblade.

Image

One helluva a boom.

Image

One helluva boom from behind the gun.

Image

One helluva a boom from the recieving end.

Now make this thread live! LIVE! LIVE I TELL YOU!!!

The Orks have elected to receive.

Master Cheif? Wuss.

The Guard demonstrate seemingly physics-defying accuracy. I swear where this hit is kinda impossible.

FOR THE EMPEROR! Either is fine.

How do you import flags like that?

It's quite easy. You make the badge you want into a 64x64 .tga file and put it in the Badges folder in the Dawn of War files. For banners, make a 64x96 .tga and put it in the Banners folder.

Did you actually buy a copy? If you did, it's inside the CD case, behind the third CD. If you pirated it, not helping.

Yeah, when I bought it I had a hard time finding it too. Open up the case, look behind Disk 3. Odd place to put it, since you have no reason to remove the third disk until after you put in the key, but it's what they did.

If you mean the key for Winter Assault, it's in the manual.

Most of my badges I snuck in from HomeWorld2. I have loads of national flags for HW2, so hey. I only found a UK banner though, which is fine by me.
Sadly, the default Homeworld 2 ones aren't transferrable, so no Angel Moon marines

Showing off my favorite Guard scheme:

Image

And I have discovered that I can up the model detail to medium and turn on the full 3D camera without adversely affecting gameplay! Yay! :D

Image

Also: Two seriously fucked up moments. First, there was a Thunderhawk just sitting near my Space Marine ally's base doing nothing:

Image

And then it appears that my ally's Hellhounds got their tracks put on sideways through the vehicle chassis. Note: Mine appeared normal.

Alright, I'll bite. How the Hell do you make a .tga file?

Get IrfanView or a similar program (check the sticky) and just save as .tga format.

Should I break that link? Ah well, done now.
Anywho, that thread gives a good program for editing your own badges and banners and a couple of hints and tips.

My own shots of our three Baneblades. I'm using them because they won't break the thread like Nephtys' will. :P

There are mods for it, but it would kill your ability to play online if the people you're playing with don't also use the mod.
