Ok, just watched. It was, I guess, worth the wait...
It was freaky and disturbing, as anything dealing with Evangelion usually is. However, given the exact song used in this AMV, (( I won't give it away)) you will find it specficlly disturbing

So is this thing "disturbing" in an actual way, or in the munchkin bullshit manner that so much supposedly "disturbing" stuff on the Net turns out to be?
Although either way, I'm frankly just not interested enough to find out.

Still, I think this sums it up nicely:

Since it has "Disney" in its filename, and is apparently called "EVA-love", I'm guessing the song is the love song from Aladdin or Beauty and the Beast.
However, it also has "DivX" in the filename, which means I'll not only have to download the file to view it, I'll also have to install DivX, so... no. Unless someone can say what it is about and thereby convince me why it's worth it.

OK, I'll let it out...
The song is: "I love you" from 'Petes Dragon'
The Song itself is a back and forth song between Pete and the Dragon. In the movie, the dragon never talks, but makes only strange grunting and clicking noises. Which, in a disturbing way, are substituted by a 'Talking' Evangelion.
So you have a Love sone with Shinji on one side, singing his love to an Evangelion, who grunts back his equal love to the boy...
Truely disturbing.

Okay, having actually watched it now, I can say with absolute authority that the video is not even remotely "disturbing."
It's just goofy.
However, I do have some reservations that for me at least prevented it from being very funny.
First, there's the fact that the editing isn't very good, somewhere between merely amaturish and simply lazy.
Second, and what I have the biggest problem with on a personal level, is the degree of image manipulation present. Now, I'm not refering to them messing with and mixing around the frames to lip-synch shots with the lyrics. While they did a pretty sloppy job with that, I didn't really have a problem with it.
What I'm refering to is when they actually go in and manipulate and alter the actual images with Photoshop and such, primarily moving the Eva's jaw to lip-synch it to the song. You can also see it when they add moving stars in the background of one shot of Shinji in the Entry Plug, and when spatters of blood are put on the "lens" while EVA-01 is eating Zeruel. I think they even do it a few times to get Shinji to lip-synch to the song better.
Uts and DPDP already know very well that I simply hate the whole image manipulation trend and approach that's been growing pretty big in anime music video making. There are probably less than a handfull of AMVs which I've seen extensively use image manipulation that I actually like, but they're special cases. I hate it because I think it's lazy and cheating, and goes against the groundings of the genre. AMV has its roots in the found footage subgenre of experimental filmmaking, where you're supposed to use only what you have and find a way to make it work, without producing any elements on your own. Its very nature emphasises that the filmmaker uses their creativity, and the image manipulation trend contradicts that completely. It promotes laziness over creativity, instead of figuring out how to get the materials to work and create audio/video matches, the filmmaker simply forces the materials to conform with what they want. Instead of finding a creative solution through editing they simply cheat and force things to work. In the end it's just something I simply cannot stand.
