found this old work from about 6-7 years ago. thought id share it with you guys.

to give an idea on scale, the radius was about 1AU. now im not gonna get into the science of any of it cause i know it's ridiculous. but it's purpose was that of a haven. the structure was a sort of shell with numerous, numerous planets inside. gravitational effects and everything we're ignored. it's assumed that it was constructed by super-intelligent beings (enough said there).

if i remember correctly.. after it was finished it was pulled out of the universe into its own kind of bubble. civilizations were fleeing to it to escape a sort of galaxy/universe wide horror. the blue sphere at the bottom was a sort of power source, the structure at the top was not a control area, but more of a luxury space port thing. the ring of red-ish plates along the top and bottom were part of an elaborate defense system/shield. species would populate the planets within it, but not the structure itself. the structure was completely autonomous and billions of billions of years old. the inhabitants of the planets didn't really ask questions about its origins, they we're just glad it was there for their protection.

as far as story goes. it was set in a very large universe i drempt up. while it was used as a haven, it has since been abandoned and has sort of been lost as it only exists inside its own little bubble of a universe. (my story spanned almost 33 billion years.. people we're old haha). its was going to be the stage for the last part in my story. to keep it simple.... it was in its own bubble of a universe, the normal laws of time and space didnt really completely apply. what happened was the main villain re-discovered it, and was using it as a sort of base, able to reach anywhere in the universe with it. you can dream up the rest of the story yourself, but mine was something like huge fleets of ships and the main characters exploring it, trying to track down the villain in a crazy massive game of cat and mouse in this fantasy structure/world.

enjoy (i feel ridiculous)

Not at all! I've spent rather a lot of time and energy cocreating a universe several times older than that, and we have things just as amazingly improbably and quite a bit sillier. Besides, it looks cool :P
