I know this has probably been covered before, but, since we've obviously got a couple of new Wacom owners... what is your opinion on the Wacom, and what size do you recommend; I'm sure the big one is the best, but is anyone "making do" with the 4x6 ? I'm asking because I'd love to get one (I have an old "kid board, but the pen is messed up, and I'm not even sure I have the software or if it will work with my laptop) but really would rather not spend the $300+ the large one costs.

I have a 4x6 graphire 3 and it's fine for everything I try to use it for. If I was going to get a better one, it'd be the type that recognizes stroke angle rather than a larger pad.

Originally I had a graphire 1 that I got a few years ago, but I had to replace it after it wore out. I took it apart to see what the problem was and the etched traces beneath the pad had actually worn away in places.

I think we use one of the older Intuos models at work, but whatever we have they're Wacoms and I like them. The pens are comfortable and the tablet is sensitive, but the mouse/tablet combo sucks.

I use two Wacom Penabled Tablet PCs, and they are outstanding. One is an IBM/Lenovo X41 with a tablet sleeve, docking station and so on, with a 12" screen, and the other is a Toshiba Satellite R15 with a massive 14" or 15" screen, I use both of them constantly and would never again even consider buying a traditional laptop.

For use with my tablet PCs, I bought three of the Cross executive pens, two with caps and one without. I prefer the capless pen somewhat in terms of actual use, but the capped models are better for wearing in your pocket and for use while travelling et cetera.

The only major gripes I've had are dead pixels on both units, and dust getting packed under the monitor on the Toshiba. The Toshiba has some stupid design flaws, but since it is the largest tablet on the market, and since it rarely leaves my office, I tend to overlook them.

I use an Intuous 2 (sp?) for all of my work. It's never failed me so far. I went with the 6x8 or something, and I actually wish I'd gotten a larger one at times. Nonetheless, go with Wacom. It's cliche to say this, but it's the best for the price.
