Don't Click if blood and tissue gross you out

Sad Cat (This is safe)

This is from the ruptured absess. She actually feels better because there's no pressure now.

Anyway, she's starting to heal. As you can tell from the pic, she's not happy.

I'm glad that she's going to be okay. How does something like this happen? Did she injure herself, or something, or is it just bad luck and some kind of internal infection?

Both cats and dogs can be prone to what's called "Anal Sac Disease." They have a gland above the anus, very much like a skunk has, that produces fluid. This gland can become impacted and abscess. I'm not sure how it happened to my cat; she doesn't even go outside, but it can be the result of trauma in that region.

Well, would you be if you had a lampshade stuck over your head?

Good to hear that she's starting to heal. Hope she's all better soon.

What a little trooper! She's up on her haunches, so her butt pains can't be too bad. That's a good sign! I'm no vet, but look forward to a full recovery!

/me raps knuckes against the wooden hotel table, hoping he didn't just jinx Superman's pet.

She's already doing much better. She has her energy back, and is learning to function wearing the e collar.

Her anal area looks better too. I'm very happy about this.

Happy to hear that your cat is getting over the absess. Hopefully she'll recover from the loss of dignity just as quickly. :)
