Excellent! I saw one of those in my garage the other day, but I missed it. But we have big spiders there so I doubt it will live that long :twisted:

I was thinking it looks like a mosquito-hawk. We have those down here...but upon closer examination, I suppose it could be one of those nukulur chernobyl-mosquitos, given Tranan's location...

Mosquito hawks aren't mosquitos, Mrs. Kendall. They eat mosquitos, which is why they are good.

I do not harm them. They are useful and keep down the populations of much more destructive and annoying pests. For the most part, these are jolly beasts in their little bouncing hops across the lawn.

You speak the truth. I ended up with two hundred bites over one holiday in Queensland. On my feet.

You can calculaet the size. cos the pics area is 24mmX18mm and its taken in scale 1:1

If the pic's length is 24 mm, natural scale, and the mosquito takes up roughly 40% of that, then the mosquito is a little less than 1 cm (not counting the legs)...
