Originally, this is how Dark Councilors was going to be made (fast, sloppy comic format.) Then I realized that was still going to take too long, so I wrote it instead. Er, am writing it instead. Whatever.

These don't take long, so I'll do them sometimes if people ask :).

"The rest of the poem plays upon that pun. On the contrary, says Catullus, although my verses are soft (molliculi ac parum pudici in line 8, reversing the play on words), they can arouse even limp old men. Should Furius and Aurelius have any remaining doubts about Catullus' virility, he offers to fuck them anally and orally to prove otherwise." - Catullus 16, Wikipedia

That comic page is tasty, Pick. I love B&W contrast comic art, and that's pretty close to it.

A Dark Councilors manga would be the greatest thing ever. Then again, so would an anime, and a toilet made of solid gold...

Don't put yourself through any excessive amount of trouble.

Indeed. Still, Pick did mention that she plans on doing one chapter in manga form. I look forward to it eagerly, especially after the "dinner" manga short. :)

That's back when I thought my chapters were going to be about 20 pages long, though, not... like.. seventy .

Part of a chapter will eventually be done in manga format :P. My favorite part of the whole story, too.

The hand of Steranko is about, and I love it. Certainly, Edge looks suitably megalomaniacal, and without any speech that particular piece feels very introspective and almost surreal.

I love them all :P.

Just some more than others. Favorites vary between Umber and Edge. It's a tough call.

Hmmm...Umber looking contemplative and thoughtful rather than his typical dour expression......I rather like it. :) And he looks younger here, too. Maybe this is from a time when he had yet to encounter the Greatest Pain in the Butt Ever? :P

Greatest Pain in the Butt Ever?

Oooh, you mean the Syvorian hero? The one who finally started delivering hard-hitting clear-cut victories against the enemy? The one who rose the Syvorian morale a hundredfold? Who stripped Llanlleia of its so-called "invincible soldier"? Who has been making leaps and bounds toward the development of a better, more organized, and all-around more functional nation?

Oh, that Greatest Pain in the Butt Ever. :P

(Seriously, wherefore the hate? People? Come on!)

Also- yes. Young Umber. Note warm skin tone and blue eyes :P.

Random Trivia- the ending I am going to select for DC is still up in the air, but it pretty much hinges on which character I end up liking more :).

Tinkering around. I like Raza's and Winter's designs, too (kind of a random development from the plane ride home from Virginia, as well as Alder's parents, Shader's parents, bla bla.) I wanted to do Raza, at least, since she actually has crinkly hair.

Each about 20-25 minutes work.

Because he's a completely selfish manipulative bastard? Because he didn't any of those things for the good of his nation? He is Evil, afterall, it would surprise me to discover Edge went about his actions to improve the lives of others; as opposed to serving his own purposes.

Seriously, while Edge may have improved Syvoria greatly it supposedly pales in comparison to the status quo thousands of years ago. Furthermore, he's responsible for the escalating brutality of the war.

Plus, Edge is a dick. The way he toys with people's lives is downright loathsome.

Indeed. Similarly, Palpatine is an interesting an rather cool character, but I've never been ever able to actually like him, because he's a manipulative egomaniac with no apparent redeeming features. Whiel Edge isn't on his level (yet, at least), he's not much better.

On another note, I still like Winter's character design. He looks rather... bewildered.

But he did do those things to improve the lives of others :o! So they would like him! Come now, yes, Edge is very blatantly Evil, but it's not like he hides his proclivity. He is very honest about his selfishness, so people accept that and judge him by the results of his actions, which are generally beneficent. I mean, if nothing else, he wants to rule the best nation possible, so he is going to improve it as much as he can reasonably manage. How is this worse than, for instance, Verdigris? :luv:
Darth Raptor wrote:Seriously, while Edge may have improved Syvoria greatly it supposedly pales in comparison to the status quo thousands of years ago. Furthermore, he's responsible for the escalating brutality of the war.
In some ways the world is better now than before, in other ways worse. It also depends on what aspects we're judging by. It's better for the average Syvorian than it was a couple thousand years ago, though. Go back a bit farther and stuff gets fuzzier... . As for the war, well, there are some distinct advantages to total warfare, again, depending on your frame of moral reference. In some ways, it parallels discussion over the use of the atomic bomb in World War II. Though undoubtedly cruel, Edge's techniques might well have saved lives in the final analysis... well, Syvorian lives anyway.
Plus, Edge is a dick. The way he toys with people's lives is downright loathsome.
Well yeah, that kind of is .

Edge has essentially consummate capability. He could rule by force or by suggestion, and he chose suggestion. Hell, as long as we're at it, he didn't even take the option of openly ruling the entire nation. He still lets the Council have general governmental domain. All in all, he actually demonstrates considerable restraint --and he does give people options. What do you think Zixer would do, if he was granted this nearly unstoppable power? Do you think he would be as understanding? :)

I think I mentioned when I very first drew him that he was seriously mentally disjointed.

True enough. Still, I have a hard time liking the heavily manipulative sort of "villan", even when compared to more direct ones who are more obviously evil. I suppose there's no real difference in the end, although I prefer the direct sort of tyranny rather than an illusion of freedom.

And for the record, I'm not a big fan of Zixer either.

Okay. Would you entrust the bands to Hoquer?

I would entrust Lauer's Bands to myself. Barring that, they should be destroyed.

And I detest Zixer far more than Edge, if that makes you feel any better.
