Prototype insignia for a self-created chapter called the Armadillos.



The color of the armor isn't quite right, it's supposed to be a lighter tan, but this was as close as I could get.

The Armadillos are a later founding chapter of the Raven Guard, which is why the white raven appears in the center. The insignia itself is supposed to resemble a curled-up armadillo (the symbolism being that the chapter is the armor protecting the Imperium and its founders).

I just think it's downright silly. The name, not the insignia. And the symbolism. I think it's just one of those "Somebody got drunk and named it a chapter" dealies.

If GW can put out chapters with names like Rainbow Warriors, Thunder Barons, and Space Sharks, then I can name a chapter the Armadillos.

Anyway ... I think it looks good! It gets the idea across well without obscene detail. I think it's quite effective!

There Primarch was a notorious enviromentalist and they are sworn to fight off the forces of Chaos to prevent the Chaos God's minions from not only destroying the people of the Imperium but to prevent them from ruining the Virgin landscapes from the Rampent Polution they plan on inflicting on the Imperium's virgin landscape and after each victory they celebrate with Cocktails and make flirting remarks to some of the more "straping" Guardsmen.

I get the impression a fair few of the Marine chapters listed on the GW site were contributions from fans... they used to have the Emperor's Pointy Sticks from TSOALR on there

And what, pray tell is wrong with that? Perfectly understandable for a normal marine unit to recieve the wrong paperwork and 500 years later still be trying to get their name changed.

I maintain I can call my chapter Velociraptors, so I can't complain about the name. Anyways, cool idea for the symbol. It's always important to pick something that can be easily drawn or painted on those shoulder pads.

My only criticism is it might look like the letter 'C' at a distance.

That's why imperial guard are the best. We don't have silly names to screw up our regiments.
